Need Advice Regarding Obamacare
« on: September 25, 2014, 01:18:59 pm »
Hi all, I live in Florida-Miami. I have a case manager which she informed that i need to enrolled into Obamacare. Before this, I am with Ryan White which i did not pay any money, not for meds or doctor's appointment. Now with this Obamacare she said i am obligated to enroll. I even told her i will pay the penalty and she said, no you can not . YOU NEED TO ENROLL!.Now my question is she said i need to choose a Silver Plan to cover most of it and they will help me with the rest. But that Silver Plan is $400.00/monthly. I only see the doctor every 3 or 4 months. I am on atripla and my health is pretty well. I do not make that much of a money around $32K/year. How come now i have to pay $400.00/montly, i have a mortgage and also bills to pay.  Btw, my job does not offer health insurance.
Please can someone advise me if some of you, how are you handling this type of issue. I am pretty frustrated since i was trying to save money for my college education. Thanks

I know this is a bit late in reply, and may not apply for Florida, but here in VA, VDH is using the Ryan White Funding to pay premiums for bronze or silver plans, based on if you qualify for the subsidy or not decides which one you can go with, and medication copay's for those on Ryan White funds. I am not sure how the doctors or labs will work out, but I guess I will find out more later. If you can, since its been awhile, maybe update?

My son is was on my insurance which was excellent. Our prescription plan through Chesterfield resources/ United Health care are excellent as well. He already has his co- pay assist cards for 2 of his meds which covered the full amount, however he is putting in his application now as we speak because he does qualified for subsidized rates, in which they will pay the difference of what he cannot afford. We are working on what prescriptions and what tier -formulatory will be covered as well as how much with cost. His concern is that all states with the Ryan White program don't offer the B plan to cover what your deductible cost are or copays are for the medication. This is where it can get tricky depending on your state and the availability of what they will offer. My son is a little worried about this. He has a case manager working on getting  him what he needs
