hi,

brief history...I was in a monogamous relationship with my husband for over 20 years.  We are just divorced. I started to "date" again and met a guy.  Stupid me, I haven't had much experience in the dating world and was taken in by him.  I went to his house after a few dates and we got naked.  He put his fingers inside me and I gave him a handjob, and we did a lot of kissing, but we never had intercourse. 

My question is this, can I be at risk for contracting HIV from his fingers being inside of me (say, if he had touched himself and had gotten some semen on his hand), or if I had a small cut (more like scrape) on my hand, or torn cuticles, that he ejaculated into? 

Needless to say, after I told him that we couldn't have intercourse, and that night was over, I never heard from him again.  Lesson learned, don't be so naive!!

I really don't want this one, horrible experience, to have endangered my health or life.  I realize I sound paranoid and scared, truth is I am.

Any help or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Veggie,

Being fingered will not put you at risk of HIV infection. Nor will giving someone a handjob. You don't need to be tested for HIV as a result of this experience.

HIV is transmitted via unprotected vaginal and/or anal sex, sharing contaminated injecting equipment such as needles and syringes and, under certain circumstances, from HIV positive mother to her unborn or nursing infant.

Thanks for the help MtD!  I did read the Welcome Thread, and while the rational part of me knew that I wasn't at risk, it sometimes makes you feel better to have someone "tell" you as well.

I appreciate your help!
