Hello - my partner has just been diagnosed as HIV positive. I am worried that he may be in an advanced stage of HIV - he has lost a lot of weight and has problems with blurred vision. is this a late hit status symptom? thank you

Scared, he needs to discuss these concerns with a doctor as they could be caused by many different things. Not every health concern in his life is going to be directly related to hiv.
I've moved your thread to the Someone I Care About forum as that is the more appropriate place for it.

Thank you for your replies. We live in China, so it is a bit of difficulty to get the most current information which is my major concern. As soon as practicably possible I hope to take my partner back to Australia. We see an infections diseases specialist tomorrow morning (a quiet thought/prayer/wish appreciated). Take care all.

Good luck tomorrow. You may find it helpful to write out a list of questions to take with you to the appointment. It's also helpful to write the answers down - it's too easy to forget what was said once you leave the office. Hopefully he'll be referred to an eye doctor to find out what's going on with his eyes.
Again, good luck!
