Thank You Thank You Thank You
« on: June 01, 2008, 11:11:50 am »
Hey people,
I am very grateful to those that post here. I just tested positive and seroconverted about 3 months ago. It was a very scary time. That phone call absolutely sucked and the whole room closed in on me. I thought I'd shut down. Instead I reached out to close friends and slowly made sense of the feelings. I started to cope. This forum helped me tremendously. I found it within 24 hours and just started reading common experiences. I wasn't alone. That was the most powerful thing I needed to know. Others had this scary thing, and yet they are managing. They are lving. I'm not at 100% acceptance but I'm okay with it, you know? To those that post regularly here, you help more than you might ever know! Thanks!
George

Thanks guys, I'm counting on using all the support I can find. Everyday is a learning experience. The thing I'm quickly noticing is that it's the ignorance of things that lead to the fear. Reading about seroconversion, CD$ counts, different treatment options and all that is a good start. I'm meeting with a specialist Friday and have a lot of questions. One thing that bothered me is how quickly my counts dropped. Over the course of 3 weeks my cd4 dropped 250 and my viral count went from 20,000 to 120,000. Scared the crap out of me as I know I've contracted the disease less than six months ago. I called my specialist out of fear, and got zero answers or reassurances. I was sure that I had some form of Super Strain that'd kill me in a day. (I can laugh about that now  ;D
I don't want to be scared like that again. I want to know what to expect as this thing moves forward. This website and forum is awesome for that reason. Never stop posting. Me... I'll keep reading
Best to All!

George, being that you're newly infected, expect your CD4s and viral load to jump around for awhile.  Of course, it's easy to think the worst.  Trust, a lot of us have done that.  It's just your body adjusting.  Take care.
  Luv,
Betty
