I will try and be brief, and honestly, thank you for the service that you provide.  It is truly appreciated.

On June 29th, I met up with an escort.  She provided unprotected oral sex for a few minutes, and I provided cunnilingus for probably 2 minutes.  We then proceeded to have protected sex for 5-7 minutes. She had a condom that she pulled out of her purse and was in its wrapper.  She asked if I had any additional condoms and I said no, and she said no problem.  She applied the condom.  I am not aware of any breakage--honestly, would you be able to tell if it breaks or if it is expired?

Like I said, the actual intercourse lasted 5-7 minutes and was very standard--not rough at all.  I finished and she removed the condom.

Approximately July 14-15, I developed a very weird feeling in my mouth.  Very dry and scratchy, and my tongue had a white coating on it, so I am worried about thrush.  I went to the doctor a week later and he said that it looked ok, but that I did have a bit of white coating and he gave me Nystatine.  White coating went away after a week or 10 days, but at times I still have a weird feeling in my mouth, and my tongue is numb/tingly at times.

About two days ago on July 2 or 3rd, I started getting occasional twinges of pain in my joints.  A couple in my toes, my knee, my elbow.  I am not imagining these at all.

I am totally freaked out that I have HIV now.  The whole thrush thing--which if you read most sites, they say that it could be an early sign of HIV infection, and then pains in my joints.  Am I overreacting?  I have been under alot of stress lately, but I dont think that stress causes white tongue/thrush, and I dont know where the hell the joint thing came from.  Anyone, please help.  Thank you in advance.

Sorry, one more thing.  I am also now getting occasional twinges of pain underneath my arms, and i am getting muscle aches in random parts of my body.  I guess what is freaking me out is the timing of this--2 weeks after incident, I get the white tongue/thrush, then 4-5 weeks, I get the joint pains and twinges of pain in armpits and random places like the front of my legs below the knees, my toes, etc.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you so much.

You never had a risk of contracting HIV.

Nothng you are reporting of your activities sexually put you at risk. No guy has ever been confirmed to have been infected through getting a blowjob. You aren't going to make history by becoming the first.

You used a condom for intercourse which is exactly what you are supposed to do. They provide very effective protection.

So bottom line: no risk.

Your symptoms are something to discuss with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV. If you are sexually active we do suggest that at least once a year you ought to have a full STD panel done. Other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV.

This is NOT an HIV situation. There's no need for HIV testing.

So the timing of the white tongue/thrush, joint pains, etc. do not raise a red flag at all?  Thrush is something that i have never had in my life until two weeks after this experience, which really freaks me out. 

And again, thank you for your help.  I wont be a serial poster, I promise.  Just very worried.

Why should your symptoms raise a red flag? You didn't have a risk for hiv infection. If you feel unwell, go see a doctor. Whatever is causing your problems has nothing to do with hiv as you had no risk.

Hi Ann,

Thanks for responding.  I know that my thinking might be irrational, just like most that come on here (no judgement, trust me).  I guess it is the "what if" of all of this.  Like "what if for some reason I am the exception and the condom failed, or "what if it isnt a coinicidence that I am having strange symptoms like thrush 2 weeks after this, etc.  I know it doesnt make a lot of sense, so I apologize.  I am just worried.  Thanks.

Doubts, fears and what ifs aren't facts. The details as you have reported them = NO RISK. Period.

As Ann has suggested, if you have troubling symptoms that is  something to discuss with your doctor. This is not an HIV situation. Period.

Last post, I swear.  No joke.  If I continue to keep having these thoughts I will just go get tested and stop asking questions.

So today I am at day 41 after the incident.  All day I have had shooting pains at various times in my toes, ankles, knees, wrists and shoulders.  Fingers as well.  And I cant help but think that I was the unlucky guy who used a condom yet still became infected -- these pains are not imagined.  Do you still hold the same certainty that I was not at risk whatsoever?  Should I be concerned about HIV? Is that type of pain consistent with HIV? 

Again, last post, and I thank you for your help--sorry for sounding crazy to you.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

There is absolutely nothing in anyway suggestive of HIV ARS in your continuing litany of symptoms. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with HIV. You should be talking about the problem with your doctor.

You can go ahead and get tested for your peace of mind if you want to. Getting a negative HIV result is inevitable.

This is not an HIV situation. Period. End of story. (And by the way, when someone really is experiencing ARS, all of the symptoms come on at the same time, last a week or two and then they are gone. They do not appear randomly over a period of time.

Thanks guys.  I will try and move on from this.  I know that it is irrational and most likely very annoying to all of you.  I just keep focusing on the shooting pains and throbbing joint pain.  I know I need to stop.

Talk to your doctor about the pain you are experiencing. This is not about HIV.

I went yesterday to the doctor and got tested--exactly 42 days from teh incident. Waiting for results.  IF I test negative, do I need to do another test at 12 weeks?

It will be negative (unless you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with ANYONE you haven't told us about). And no, you will not need further testing over this NO RISK incident.
