Performed Oral Sex with Canker Sore

Appreciate your support/thoughts in advance.
Apparently what I thought was a low risk scenario may not have been. I performed oral sex on a man b/c I assumed the risk of contracting HIV through oral sex was incredibly low. I have no idea of his status (positive or negative), even though he is an old friend - he's never been tested. He's heterosexual, no drug use, but has likely had sex with many women. Not sure what category that puts him in. Here's where the real fear sets in. I had a canker sore in my mouth. Had it for over a week, and I'd say it was "almost" healed at the time I performed oral sex - was completely gone a day or two later. But, I guess that was still technically considered an open sore. And to make matters worse, he came inside my mouth. And that combination terrifies me. I did swallow quickly, and given where the sore was in my mouth I hope it was unlikely that his cum came in contact with the sore. But if it did, I'm so paranoid that I could have contracted HIV. It's only been 30 days. Of course I'm sick (tired, queasy, achy), but that may be from the stress - not sure! Should I get tested now, or is it too early? Did I put myself at a significantly higher risk b/c of the canker sore and for letting him cum. Very scared.

You never had a risk of contracting HIV from oral sex.

You are worrying needlessly. Your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV, if it is present.

The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.

There's no need for testing over this incident. Get on with your life.

Last question (guess I should have mentioned in initial post, but for whatever reason, I was so focused/paranoid about the canker sore/oral sex).
We did start to have unprotected sex, but then stopped, b/c we had no condom. Could I be at risk from any potential pre-ejaculate? Maybe I should be more concerned about that than the oral sex?

Apologies if I asked a naive question. I did read the transmission lesson in Welcome. So, I guess your point is I should be worried and should get tested ASAP? If I get tested this week, at 4 weeks, is that too soon? Sounds as though 6 weeks is the preferred time? Thanks again.

Sorry, I realize I made an awful mistake and just want to get tested ASAP. I can't take the stress / suspense. Could I do 4 wks, then 6 wks, then 13 weeks? I know there is the rapid test, but I'm too paranoid about a false positive. I was tested a year ago, and this is the only stupid encounter I've had since then, but I realize it only takes one time, so it is a bigger risk than I ever imagined... Thanks!

OK, so if I understand you correctly there was brief insertive intercourse.

The earliest you can test for a meaningful result is at 6 weeks. The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the smallest number of those who are going so seroconvert will have done so within 4-6 weeks after unprotected intercourse. So a negative at 6 weeks is definitely reassuring. That negative ought to be confirmed at 13 weeks.

A Rapid test doesn't mean you can test any earlier. It only means you can get the result much more quickly than some of the other tests. But the waiting time to get an accurate result is the same.

In the future you need to know that you can vaginal or anal intercourse with anyone you want to, but you need to do it the safer way which means always having your partner wear a condom. No exceptions.
