Title: Am I Infected - Condom breakage
Post by: dummy on December 23, 2006, 12:31:58 am: First of all, I like to thank all the moderators for providing this great service.

My issue- I had sex with prostitute about 3 days back. Sex lasted about 30 seconds, about 26 seconds condoms was on and for about 4 seconds condom broke down. I pulled out immediately and washed the penis with hot water and soap.

Symptoms- Feeling very weak now, Can not focus properly on anything, Worried, Face looks tired.

Question- I am infected with HIV with about 4 seconds unprotected sex? What are my odds of getting it? I very scared.

Hey Dummy...

First of all, you are not a dummy and try not to talk to yourself like that. Things do happen. Now as far as your situation is concerned, I see that you are in a very analytical state-of-mind right now due to your raised inner anxiety level within you.

Did or didnot the condom "break" while you were having intercourse? Please clarify "broke down".

Condom "break" while I was having intercourse, so I had unprotected intercourse for about 4 seconds.

Hey DY...

If there was a breakage with the condom, you should go and get tested to be sure of your status. I do understand that it freaked you out. However, nine times out of ten you will come back negative. Just go and get tested for your peace-of-mind.

I had the exactly the same situation then you do,broken condom with prostitute.
I had all the "symptoms" and was freaking out,but i tested negative so i really believe that you will test negative also!

dummy,

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus and more so from a woman to a man. You were protected up until the condom broke and the odds are very much in your favour of testing negative over this incident. I've yet to see the insertive partner test positive over a condom break.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

An hiv test at the three month point will give you a conclusive result. I expect yours to be negative.

Please read through the condom and lube links in my signature line. A correctly used condom rarely breaks and provides excellent protection against hiv.

I am having more symptoms. 2 Days after the unprotected sex for 2 seconds started feeling weakness, Face looked pale. After 10 days, now I have flu like syptoms, cold,continuous headache, weakness, body aches. Is these are HIV symptoms? Please help.

There is nothing even remotely HIV-specific about those you are reporting. In fact they may as easily be stress-related as anything else. If they persist you should discuss them with your doctor.

Your extremely brief possible exposure was such that the testing negative is all but a foregone conclusion, no matter what your head is saying to you otherwise.

Get tested just as a precaution. I certainly expect you will test negative.

During the waiting time you need to stay productively busy. Doing that will make the time pass more quickly than you may imagine possible at this moment.

Now I am at 23rd day.

My symptoms are not still going away. I still have pale yellowish face and look weaker. Cheeks are getting sunken. I feel weak and my temperature remains between 97 to 97.7. Getting headaches most of the time. My blood pressure is high after this accident.
I am planning test for PCR DNA test at 29 days.

Prolonged severe anxiety leads to all these problems, especially the low body temperature.

If you're losing weight you should discuss that with your doctor. If you are losing weight it's no surprise since you a so stressed and probably aren't eating properly these days.

Post by: RapidRod on February 01, 2007, 08:49:10 pm: A six week negative test is good, but a negative at 13 weeks will be conclusive. I doubt that your negative will be any different at 13 weeks.
