Liver Test resaults...
« on: February 28, 2007, 03:38:52 pm »
I thought I would put my lab results in this forum. It seemed more appropriate.
These are the result of 5 weeks on Truvada Reyataz / Norvir.  My ID sent me for a sonogram today (no results yet).  I am sure he is going to try me on another combo.

Albmin                4.4 g/dl       (3.2-5.5)
Total Bilirubin       6.5 mg/dl     [0.2-1.0]
Direct Bilirubin      0.2 mg/dl     (0-0.2)
Ind Bilirubin          6.3 mg/dl    [0.1-0.8]
ALK                    59 [U/L       (25-100)
AST (SGOT)        27 [U/L       (10-42)
ALT (SGPT)         36 [U/L       (10-40)
Total Protein        8.0 g/dl       (6.4-8.3)

I was just looking for a little input on these numbers.

Thanks!  Pip

Apart from your albumin and indirect bilirbin everything is normal.  The high indirect bilirubin is probably down to the Reyataz.  The only condition associated with high albumin is dehydration, so drink some more.  People with lean body mass tend to score higher on albumin.  However, albinin levels are not really that reliable from one test.

On the basis of the prescribing info you would be a candidate to cease to use Reyataz and start an alternative drug. The yellowing is cosmetic, and not causing damage, but if it's bothering you, a switch, yes, think about one.  Drinking more water and a little time it may get better, but yellow eyes is hard to hide, eh?

Thanks again, Matt.
I had pretty much decided to try something new.  I was just looking for some confirmation.

Be good,  Pippet
