So here is the rub....About 8 weeks ago I met a girl at a bar in Thailand. She came back to my hotel and she performed oral sex on me. I had some open sores from friction of vaginal sex with condom. I was not concerend until 2 weeks later I got soreness in my armpits. A week later I went to dr and had temp of 37.5C This went away in 1 day. 1 Week later i got a sore throat and ear pain on the right side. This lasted for 4 weeks. Dr's said tonsils are inflamed. I had musclie pain (all muscles and joints) night sweats and no appetite. I know oral chance is low. but 5 weeks of sore throat is too textbook. I am at wit ends. I will test in a few weeks, but know I am poz. Please give me info about what to expect from here..meds etc..

You didn't have a risk so there is no reason to talk about meds or anything else. You do not get HIV from receiving a blowjob.

Not only is saliva NOT infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. Getting a blowjob, even with abrasions on your penis, is not a risk for hiv infection.
Along with reading our Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) and following the Transmission Lesson link, here's what else you need to know to remain hiv negative:
You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.
Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.
Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.
If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

thanks guys..it is just the month long sore throat, night sweat BAD), muscle/joint pain etc. Prety much everything I read. I am in counselling now and taking Zoloft. I think i am at really low odds, but still think I am "the one". PS what you guys do is an amazing service
As a question that is not typically answered on any sites, do ARS symptoms come on all at once, or spred over a few weeks?

We don't discuss symptoms here because symptoms, or even the lack of symptoms, means absolutely nothing when it come to hiv infection.
You don't need to test over this blowjob, but as a sexually active adult you should be testing no less than yearly as a matter of routine. A test three months after your last incident of unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse will be conclusive. If you've always used condoms for intercourse in the past three months, you can test now for a conclusive result.
Testing is the ONLY way to know your hiv status.

On TheBody website I have seen Dr Bob reply to people in similar situations as mine and say that there is a small risk of contracting hiv via oral sex if there are abrasions on the penis and there was an open sore in the performers mouth. Why the difference in opinions.
The internet is driving me crazy with all the info out there. I need to stop symptom surfing.

Dr Bob is a notorious CYA merchant (ie Cover Your Arse). Quite frankly doll, Dr Bob and the rest of the crowd over at TheBody are more concerned about getting sued than giving out proper information regarding HIV.
Stick with us. We know what we're talking about.
I agree 100% with Ann and Roddles on this one.
