First off, welcome.  This forum is full of extremely knowledgeable people, so you've found a great place to ask questions.

There is no "normal" for HIV infection.  It affects everyone differently.  I had most of the "flu-like" symptoms of the acute phase, but I've had numerous friends that never experienced any illness.  They only found out from being tested.

I gather that you haven't received treatment, meaning you haven't started medications?  Have you seen a doctor?  If so, have you been instructed to follow-up with that doctor?

You've tested positive, but have you checked your CD4 and VL?  At the very minimum monitoring the infection is required if you want to stay in good health.  Let's face it who doesn't want to stay in good health?  In answer to your question fatigue and basically feeling lousy were the precursor to me really getting hit with a brick where my infection was concerned.

How long am i able to live? . . .  if i start receiving meds

Rya, may I ask where you are located?  Also, you did not answer the questions by the two other members, what are your CD4 and viral load values (if you know them)?

The short answer to your question is that the meds, as long as you have access to them and take them as prescribed, would allow you to have a virtually normal life-span.  This is not 1987.

I'm confused. This thread title says you were diagnosed 4 months ago, which would have been December 2011 and yet 3 months ago you were posting in the Am I Infected section of the forum and hadn't been diagnosed yet. So which is it?

Yes, I have the same confusion. When did you test positive and was that result confirmed with a western blot test?

Please clarify.

Thanks.
