Title: Btripla Complera (USA) Eviplera (UK)
Post by: rdj on January 08, 2012, 03:49:50 pm
Just been switched to Eplivera after being on DMP266 since trial in 1900 and frozen to-death then Atripla since EEC approval. What concerns me is my consultant told me to take with a high fat meal, the USA customer fact sheet says take with breakfast or meal, the EEC and UK fact sheet  says take with meal but not a high protein drink.
Now not wishing to sound like a doctor but what is the correct way to take this medication, bearing in mind that Africa is there biggest market.
Why cant the drug companies treat us like educated people and not Africans, if this medication needs 5gms of fat to enter the bodies system with any degree of penetration then say so ?. My god I am not medically trained but been living with this condition since 1983. Stop treating patients like children, most have more of a grasp of this condition that a Senior House Officer( NHS).

1st Welcome.

2nd---after a hospital visit this week when some school boy claiming to be a Doctor
won the Nobel prize for Patronizing insensitivity, I have a particular sympathy for your comments. I cannot remember what drug it was but 8 to 10 tears ago frustrated by the answers I was getting I rang the drug company Bristol Squibb Meyers hovers in the brain but I cannot swear on it. Anyway after two attempts I rang there press dept , recounted my story , with heavy emphasis on there so far inability to help and hey presto I got the answers over the phone and in the mail.

3rd welcome again and where exactly are you?

look forward to hearing more
