I have to agree, I was real lucky and thankful I didn't have to go thru a lot of what you all have had to go through. It still hasn't been a walk in the park and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I started meds in 2003

Been on:

Viramune ( still am, started on it)

Epzicom ( still am, but was taking it in the beginning in separate doses)

Trizivir-for about a month ( around 4/04)

Zerit- for about a month ( in 03 )

Viread was added to Viramune and Epzicom - from July of 04 to October of 09.  I was on a four drug regimen, and decided to stop the Viread, and take my chances. So far so good.

Ray
Current Meds ; Viramune / Epzicom Eliquis, Diltiazem. Pravastatin 80mg, Ezetimibe. UPDATED 2/18/24
Tested positive in 1985,.. In October of 2003, My t-cell count was 16, Viral load was over 500,000, Percentage at that time was 5%. I started on  HAART on October 24th, 2003.

As of Oct 2nd, 2023, Viral load Undetectable.

I had to use the AIDSmeds treatment list as a "cheat sheet":

Zidovudine (AZT)
Epivir (3TC)
Invirase (Saquinavir)
Viread
Zerit (d4T)
Ziagen
Hivid (ddC)
Sustiva
Viramune
Norvir
Viracept
Truvada
Combivir
Epzicom
Emtriva

My "favorite" of these is Saquinavir; it saved my life (literally) in 1996.  My most "hated" is AZT, followed by
a close second, ddC.

Currently, I am taking Viramune, Ziagen, and Emtriva

I have often thought of trying to make a list of all the medical problems I have had (with HIV) but I could not do it without dr's charts to go by, because I (stupidly) did not keep a journal, was too sick to keep one a lot of the time anyway, and I have only sketchy memories to go by.

Not nearly as many as others have been on.

Let's see . . .

AZT
Epivir (3TC)
Saquinavir (later reformulated as Invirase)
Crixivan
Sustiva (replaced the AZT,Epivir with Combivir)
Reyataz
Norvir
Lexiva
Truvada
Isentress

This, of course, doesn't include the other meds I take for other things, including those caused by the above drugs.

But, it did make me stop and try to remember.

I also had to use the drugs section on here to help jog my memory because my memory was never very good to begin with and also because I actually tried to forget a lot of these drugs.  Heres the list as best as I can recall.

Emtrivia
Epivir
Truvada
Viread
Zerit
Viramune
Norvir
Kaletra
Prezista
Fuzeon
Isentress

Least favorite - Back when they had trouble producing Norvir (late 90s) and I had to drink that NASTY liquid norvir

Current -
Truvada, Prezista, Norvir, Isentress

Are you talking just about HIV meds?  Or meds in general?  Strangely enough, I cannot remember all the names of the meds.  Like Alan, I never kept a journal, doctor's notes, labs etc.   I know I took all the early ones-AZT, ddC, ddI, 3tc, Crixivan, liquid something (could it have been Kaletra, or maybe Norvir), Viramune, Zerit, Sustiva, Lexiva, Truvada, Abacavir (isn't this the one you have to carry a warning card with you), now on Truvada and Isentress (easiest combo I've been on).

I'm sure that's probably not a complete list.  I was diagnosed 21 years ago, most likely been infected for 23 or 24, diagnosed with AIDS 16 years ago.

Dear Denb!!!

I take out my hat for you! LOLOL... a great list, and a great survivor!!! not surprised your doctor has taken your list as a "case-of-teaching".

Mine is a short one:

Truvada
Sustiva
Reyataz
Norvir
Etravirine

I've been lucky, all the times, once a day. Norvir in those lovely and discrete big alcohol smelling capsules. I must confess it helped me to improve my swalowing skills...  ;D

I'm lucky (?)  Positive 20 years, this year.

Brief start up on AZT mono therapy, but got off of them quickly.

Waited 5 or so years before going on anything else:

AZT, DDI (puke makers)
AZT, DDI, Viramune
AZT, 3TC, Viramune
Combivir, Viramune

Hmmm, but the list of other meds is MUCH longer ;D

Dear David, I take note, and will only post back here when I'm a LTS too, into 15 years or so, I promise! but I hope I can drop from time to time to read LTS colleagues' very interesting posts, from which "not newbies-not LTS" people, just like me, find lots of interesting advises and informations to learn from.

Kind regards :-)

Good Thread Dennis! I think that doctors are just now discovering the long term side effects of the drugs we've taken in the past. Hence my screen name.
AZT
DDI
Epivir
D4T
Crixivan (kidney stones and surgery due to this drug)
Kaletra (one of my favs...constant diarrhea even with 2 doses of immodium per day)
Viread
Sustiva
Isentress

Plus the other drugs for OI's, drugs to counteract side effects, and more drugs to counteract the side effects of the first counteractive side effect drugs!  A vicious cycle. LOL

:: Bump::

I think this thread needs to be resurrected so that those who are newly diagnosed and/or hesitant about starting a regimen for fear of the side effects (who always read the LTS forum) can see what they were fortunate to have missed out on.

:: Bump::

I think this thread needs to be resurrected so that those who are newly diagnosed and/or hesitant about starting a regimen for fear of the side effects (who always read the LTS forum) can see what they were fortunate to have missed out on.

Well we don't wanna scare anyone off, just the mire sight of some of us LTS is bad enough  ;D

I'd complain too if I got AIDS because some scheming poz queen lied to me about his infection, or if I'd gotten it by not having sex at all in the first place.

;D  Thanks for the smile this morning.  I agree with Solo, perhaps some of the newbies can see our history and have thanks for a one a day pill.  I'm sure many of us don't even have that option.  I believe it was the liquid Norvir that I could barely take and hold down, another medication that had to be refridgerated and yet another one that had to be taken every 4 hours.  Critical not to miss a dose.  What a joy setting the alarm clock to achieve that.

I can't recall, nor care to research, all the combos that I've taken but I know it's close to 15 different meds.

I remember going to the movies and hearing dozens of watch-alarms go off, and see a bunch of guys make a beeline for the lobby.

They didn't all come back.

OK, in the order I took them, to the best of my recollection:

AZT (6 capsules a day)
Epiver (3TC) (two tablets a day)
(Eventually switched to Combivir, which is the above two drugs in one pill, twice a day)
Saquinavir (9 capsules a day with full fat meal and grapefruit juice)
Crixivan (6 capsules a day - 2 every 8 hours precisely - on an empty stomach)
Sustiva (1 pill a day)
Reyataz (1 capsule a day)
Norvir (one soft gel capsule a day)
Lexiva (one pill a day)
Isentress (current med) (one pill twice a day)
Truvada (current med) (one pill once a day)

These are just the HIV meds. There is other stuff as well.

HUGS,

Atripla and the separate components before they were combined in one pill

Goodness, I don't remember all the meds I've taken .  Like Theyer, I have enough difficulty remembering my current ones.  Which reminds me, I need to update my laminated list that I always attach for medical purposes.

I don't remember it's name, but the one that had to be refrigerated was the worst.  Such a pain in the ass when taking trips.
