Am I Infected?
« on: December 09, 2009, 06:03:48 pm »
About 3.5 weeks ago I snorted coke using the same "tooter" as someone else.  I know we shared the same one at least once, possibly twice.

What if his blood got on it, and then I stuck it up my nose and it his blood seeped inside me?

For the past 4 days, I've been sick.

My symptoms are:

shortness of breath
congestion
stuffy nose
slight fever
cough

Please help.

Even if his blood was on it, that is not how HIV is transmitted. In terms of drug use, the sharing of an intravenous needle is the danger. You are worrying needlessly and there is no need for testing.

But then how do you explain my flu-like symptoms?

Also, in February I may have been exposed to HIV.  I let a man who I'm pretty sure is HIV+, give me a rim job.  I had a RNA test done 12 days later, and it was negative.  12 weeks later, I had a rapid test done, and it was negative.  I haven't been sexually active with anyone since February.  But I recently read on here of a guy who didn't positive until 9 months after being exposed.  Also, in May I did feel sick for like 2 or 3 days, but then I was okay.

Something is terribly wrong with me.  I just know it.  I'm scared for my life, and I keep meeting all the wrong people that just want to hurt me.  :(

See your doctor. You have never had an exposure for contracting HIV.

How do I explain flu-like symptoms? I don't. Neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms will ever tell you anything accurately about your HIV status. Only an HIV test taken at the proper time will give you that answer if you have had a risk.

But nothing you have reported thus far has put you at risk for HIV transmission, including being rimmed.

There's no need for you to test. If your symptoms continue you should be discussing them with your doctor. This is NOT and HIV situation. Period.

Nico,

You did not have a risk for hiv infection when you were rimmed or when you shared a straw to snort coke. However, you were at risk for hep C when you shared a straw. If you're worried about that, see your doctor. This is an hiv forum only.

As for your "flu-like symptoms", gee, it's flu season. You probably have the flu. Again, see your doctor.

Once again, you were NOT at risk for hiv infection in either of the situations you brought up.
