Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Hello,

I have been living in relationship with HIV partner. His viral load is undetectable. We are both gay. We are always extremely careful as far as sex. However, few days ago a small thing happened that made me worry about my health status. I know that fingering is not considered as risky activity and there were no cuts on his fingers or any other bleeding but...after fingering me for about 10 minutes (not deep) my partner cum and I found a part of his cum on the entry to my anus. There was no penis penetration and thus he didnt cum inside of me. I have cleaned myself with hot water and soap. Could this be a risk or is it possible for the virus to enter my body in this situation?

Fingering is not a risk of contracting HIV.

thank you for ur reply...I understand that fingering is not hiv risk but what about part of his cum around the entry to my anus...? Could that be dangerous?

Dear J,

I agree with Rod that this incident was not a risk for HIV transmission. HIV is a fragile virus. In order to possible succeed in transmission it needs the kind of receptive setting provided by unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.

Having your partner's cum touching your anus is NOT that kind of a setting, however much I do understand why the anxious thought could come to your mind about it. Fingering of any sort is not a risk for HIV.

There's no need for testing nor for further concern on your part.

You're welcome. Now get on with your life and just make sure you and your partner always without exception use condoms for intercourse if you get into that.
