my partners sex drive has gone way down why?
« on: May 07, 2015, 04:16:38 pm »
I'm living with my partner of almost a year and I love him very very much. But I noticed his sex drive sent from once a day to every other day to a few days to a week most times. And he was on atripla but now he's on triumeq  for a couple months(he just switched) and I'm not sure if its a side effect of the medicine of not. If anyone has info relating to that I'd really appreciate it.

Brain chemicals change from the initial flush of lust to where a couple settles for the long haul.

A few times a week sounds pretty good for a domestic relationship of a year or more duration.

Take holidays awy together, do new things, have a meal out at a different restaurant, just keep mixing things up so that you don't get in a rut. Keep those electronic screen based gizmos out of the bedroom.

Your partner should have his testosterone levels checked, as low levels can be quite common in poz males.  Various types of supplements are available if that is an issue.

I have had the same experience with my husband.  The doctor told us that it is common for HIV to affect testosterone levels. Joe is correct.

Brian
Speaking from personal experience
I was diagnosed back in August 2014 I can tell you my sexual drive has basically been non existent.
I had learned through testing that my testosterone level had basically bottomed out
Let me be frank I haven't had and orgasm or the desire for at least 9 months however just recently as I have been steadily improving
My last labs a week ago show my
VL- has dropped to 39
C-4 64
I've noticed just lately I woken up with morning wood and I notice my sexual desire coming back.
I hope this has been helpful as you will be reading lack of sexual desire seems common with people that are HIV +
I will share this a female friend who has been positive for 20 plus years tells me it effected her sexual desire early on as well...
Brian I hope my information is helpful
