Hi Everyone, 20 yrs pos new member
« on: April 05, 2008, 08:41:58 pm »
:) Hi Ladies, Im new to the site. I have been pos for 20 years and I am still going strong. Of course I have my ups and downs, but I move forward with purpose. I am on meds, my CD4 is 1300 and VL Undetectable.
I was in the ER 2x this week with wierd internal bleeding, which was scary since I live alone and have no family within 2000 miles, but I seem ok now.
I have that special Lipo belly and am on the long hunt to eliminate it.
A few well intending people have asked when Im due..! How do I answer that? Uh, never,  8)  Oh well, any help I can offer, Im here-
Hugs  ;) Stella  "Take care of you!!"

Hello Stella, and welcome to the forums, in particular, our women's family.  I was diagnosed poz 19 years ago.  It's been a long time, hasn't it?

I know all about people asking 'when are you due?'  I had the lipo belly also and people asked me that all the time.  I don't know exactly how to get rid of it, other than liposuction.  Who can afford that, right?  Especially if you're like me, and live on disability.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing more from you.  We're really a great group of women.
  Luv,
Betty

Edited to add:  please join us in the dating thread.  It's not all about dating; it's about our daily lives, struggles, and support.

Hi Stella~

I'm glad you found us here in the Forums!  :)  I have been pos for 14 years.  Interesting that you had some "weird internal bleeding," as my primary doc insists that I "must be bleeding somewhere."  My iron levels have always been low, so I recently added a supplement.  We'll see what the next lab results bring.

Come visit us GFs in the "Dating Threads," we talk about everything in there, not just dating!

Hello there and welcome Stella.

I have been hiv for 23 yrs..

As far as the belly thing, I am still learning how to live with it..
Maybe in time, they will find a way to tweak the side effects it has on us women.

But for now. just live your life a day at a time and I am glad your doing ok and out of the hospital..

It must be hard living so far from your family, especially when your in the hospital..

Glad youi decided to join our group, and this is the place to vent because we are
all family here... ;)
Nice to meet you...

Wanted to say hello too

I am very new to this as only diagnosed in Jan - but have had HIV for at least 6 years and am not that young - I am 55, and live in rural UK
Congratulations for surviving so long with this HIV - you are a huge help to someone like me who has only just heard they are HIV - as when I heard ,despite knowing about modern medication it still seemed like it was a death sentence!!

So it is good to hear you have lived with this for so long and doing OK

I have a belly that I hate - and I am not yet even on meds, so it is not due to HIV or meds - just my age and menopause I guess?????
But bloody worried that when I go on meds next week my belly will increase?
Oh well if it means I will live - then I will have to cope with it

welcome and love

Veritee
I have a blog here, please do not judge me on what I say here- I need to offload and this is where I do it: http://hiv-and-us.blogspot.com/
