Title: What are my chances?
Post by: Soworried on November 07, 2011, 04:04:21 pm
A couple of weeks ago I decided to experiment with another man. He said he was clean and showed me a HIV 1/2 Ag/Ab P24 Combo Screen test result to prove it. I know he could be in the window period but he claims to haven't done anything sexual for awhile. Anyway - besides that, what happened was we had deep french kissing for a while and we jerked each other off. To be specific, he jerked me off to completion and he finished himself up on his own. However, before he did finish, I put my mouth near the lower shaft of his penis and licked for a couple seconds. Could there be pre-cum? I'm not too sure. I don't know if it would have dripped down there and I don't remember tasting anything out of the ordinary.

1. What are my chances of infection considering I brushed only 15 minutes prior?

2. Do I need to be tested?

3. I realize you guys base your conclusions on studies that seem very convincing however, if someone went to the doctor, poured their heart out and knew 100% only oral sex was done, how does one take that into account? Do we have to assume certain external (or internal) causes were for the reason they may have put that person at an elevated risk??

See I feel like I'm being very paranoid considering not many fortunate individuals like myself actually get some sort of proof from an individual regarding their HIV status. And the person claimed to always use protection as well. I just don't know if my chances are further minimized knowing that the potential precum was exposed to air. I hate assuming the worst but it's what I do.

Thanks again.  :D

You are worrying needlessly. Nothing you have reported in your activities put you at risk for HIV and there is no need for testing.

The ONLY confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. That's it. And as long as you consistently use condoms for those activities you will be well protected. It really is just that simple.

Get on with your life. You don't have a problem with HIV.

Thank you for your quick response! I appreciate what you've said though I don't wanna sound like a nag I'd like to know how/why anything I did (perhaps step by step) did not put me at risk. Thanks.

You're a newbie to sex with another guy. It's anxiety and fears about that which this is all about.

I'm going to decline your request to go into a detail by detail examination of what you have reported. If I had any doubts about risk I would say so. I've been at this HIV/AIDS stuff for over 24 years and the others who respond on this site are similarly experienced. We are very careful about how we evaluate each situation.

You did not have a risk. Period. If you can't accept that then get tested for your peace of mind and collect the inevtiable negative result.

Happily HIV is not your problem.Really.

Yay! Thank you so much. I appreciate it you have no idea. So no doubt whatsoever then?

Your sore throat has nothing to do with HIV. If it persists discuss it with your doctor.

You were absolutely not at risk in the situation you have presented. Get on with your life. Really.

What about viral load?

You cannot have a viral load if you do  not have a virus.

Which you don't

You keep trying to complicate a very simple situation.

Viral load is not an issue for you and not for him either if he is accurate about being HIV negative. And even if he is HIV positive nothing you did with him would have put you at risk for HIV transmission.

So cut out this drama and get on with your life. Really.

So,

You would only have been at risk from the other person having a high viral load if you had UNPROTECTED ANAL INTERCOURSE with him.

Nothing you did or had done to you was a risk.

By the way, using the word "clean" to describe someone's sexual health is very insulting. I don't care if that's the word the guy used, YOU do not use it here.

If you read the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned!

What about my article!

Nothing other than sex with your own hand is 100% safe. But we know fron long experience and science in the epidemic that the only confirmed risks are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.

You did not have a risk. Period. If you come back again about this same non-risk incident you are going to get a Time Out for 28 days.

Stop hanging on to unfounded fears. Get on with your life. Period.

How is this drama?

So,

You want us to take an twenty-one year old article that is based on widely discredited patient report seriously? I could swear on my daughter's life that I got infected by sitting on a public toilet seat, but that wouldn't make it true.

We base our risk assessments on CURRENT hiv transmission science, not outdated speculation. Outdated speculation is EXACTLY what that article is. I wish they'd pull the outdated stuff off their website as it does nobody any favours.

You absolutely did NOT have a risk for hiv infection, as you have been repeatedly told.

I'm giving you that time out you have been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.

Ann

edited because 1990 was twenty-one years ago, not eleven as I originally wrote. Math was never my strong point. ;D
