regrets,

Yes, you are ok. Yes, you are overreacting.

Your doctor is WRONG. You do not need a Western Blot test. WB tests are only used after a positive hiv antibody result - because a WB will weed out the false positive antibody results. It is NOT used as a stand-alone test.

You do not need any further hiv testing at this time. You did NOT have a risk for hiv infection and if you do keep testing, you will keep getting negative results. That would be nothing more than a waste of time, money and resources.

Stop testing over this NO RISK sex toy incident. You are conclusively hiv negative.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

regrets,

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small change in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. For this reason, hiv cannot be transmitted from objects in the environment, and that includes sex toys.

The hiv testing window period is three months for a conclusive result - where there has actually been a risk. You haven't had a risk.

The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. A six week negative must be confirmed at the three month point - where there has actually been a risk and you have NOT had a risk. A six week negative is highly unlikely to change.

Unless you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse that you haven't told us about, then you have not been at risk for hiv infection - and that means you are conclusively hiv negative and do not need further testing.

regrets,

No, your hiv test does NOT show that you are clean. It shows you are HIV NEGATIVE. I'm clean - and I'm also hiv positive. I had a shower an hour ago. Using the term clean implies that people living with hiv are dirty and it's insulting. Don't use that word in that way here again.

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection.

You do NOT need further hiv testing.

You are CONCLUSIVELY HIV NEGATIVE. You an keep testing if you want to, but your results are not going to change.

You do NOT have hiv!

regrets,

The symptoms that some people experience (not everyone has symptoms) during seroconversion are not a result of the virus itself. The are a result of the process the body goes through while producing antibodies. During this process, the body produces several chemicals, one of which is called interferon and interferon is notorious for causing flu-like symptoms. The production of ANY type of antibodies can cause this interferon reaction, not just hiv antibodies.

If the symptoms a person experiences are due to hiv seroconversion, the person will normally test either fully positive, or at least indeterminate within a few days to a week following the onset of symptoms.

Re-read reply #3 (as well as all of the other responses you've had). I've already told you about the average time to seroconversion and when most people will test positive.

All this is moot where you're concerned anyway.

YOU DID NOT HAVE A RISK FOR HIV INFECTION!!!

You are conclusively hiv negative.

YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV!!!

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

You need to stop with this HIV business right now. You have conclusively tested negative for HIV. You ARE HIV negative. Period. End of story.

Any troubling symptoms you have are something for you to discuss with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV.

We're not going to indulge you anymore with coming here with new "symptoms" and worries. If you come back again with more of that you are going to get a Time Out from the site. HIV is not your problem.

This is your last warning.

regrets,

1. You did NOT have a risk for hiv infection.

2. You do NOT have hiv.

3. Your WB test will be negative. (BTW, your doctor is an idiot. WB tests are ONLY used once there has been a positive antibody result. WB tests are NOT a stand-alone test. You can tell him I said that.)

4. If you're worried about the thing on your neck, see a doctor. We cannot diagnose you over the internet - but we CAN tell you it has nothing to do with hiv.

I'm giving you that time out you were warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.

Regrets,

What part of YOU DID NOT HAVE A RISK FOR HIV INFECTION do you not understand?

So you got the flu. So what. It's nothing to do with hiv. Re-read your entire thread until it sinks in.

If you continue to post about this NO RISK situation, you WILL be given a second time out - and this one will last for 56 days.

Please consider yourself warned for the last time!!!

Regrets,

I have removed your PM privilege. We do not permit people to use PMs as a means of getting around paying a subscription for participation in the Am I Infected forum. You are not permitted to use PMs to ask questions dealing with hiv transmission and/or testing anyway.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Do NOT use Private Messages to question other members about any transmission, testing or symptom issues. These issues must be discussed in the public forum. Misuse of the PM function in this manner will result in your PM privileges being removed without warning.
