Seems early for this
« on: November 30, 2010, 10:12:44 am »
When I awoke this morning, it was 5º F outside (that is -15º C).

These are temperatures we usually see in January. It is supposed to warm up this week a bit, but there is the prospect of snow in the seven-day forecast.

It isn't unheard of for snow to fall this early, in fact, there have been snowy Halloweens.

But the temperatures just seem to be much colder than they are usually.

If this is a taste of things to come, it doesn't bode well for January or February,

BRRRRRR!

HUGS,

Mark

I've been living here on the Rock for twenty years now and this past weekend was the first time it snowed before late December - it usually doesn't snow until after the New Year. Most years it doesn't snow at all, it just rains, rains, rains. I only remember four isolated snows that stayed on the ground more than a couple hours before melting. I have a feeling this isn't the last snow we'll see this winter either.

bbbbrrrrrrrrrr

We had snow Thanksgiving morning.  Maybe a half inch or so... all melted by evening.  This is my 20th winter here and I don't remember it ever snowing before December.

It's 76° and sunny here today, so it definitely doesn't feel like the end of November.   It should be in the 50's with lows in the 30's this weekend... maybe we won't put up the Christmas decorations in shorts this year.

Snap! Would you mind reminding me - I know you're in the States, but what region?

We get a lot less snow here on the Rock than England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland mainly because being in the middle of the Irish Sea, we get the tail end of the Gulf Stream and that keeps us on the temperate side. It sure doesn't feel temperate tonight!

I've lived here in New Mexico for 9 yrs now (since Oct 2001) and YES it seems colder to me, but not as cold as 2006/2007 was, when I-25 & I-40 was closed here in Albuquerque Metro for about a week back then, but yeah, I went outside to get the paper this AM, and BRRRRRR it was cold  :)

That's COLD !! It was 82 degrees here today, but changes are coming by tomorrow morning, and I think we're supposed to have highs only in the 60's ,  But it never lasts long.

Snowing 4 days straight in Western Switzerland, along the lakes, covering the palm trees. Unheard of for November. But very pretty!

Yesterday when I got up, it was 50 outside.  This morning it's 23, and we have snow on the ground.  I guess that's not unheard of in Northcentral Indiana.

I live in the snow belt, and we've had abnormally high temps for the last couple of months.  We got our first snow fall last night.  Thankfully, I love this time of year-bring on the snow. :D

A week after we left home we got 32" of rain in a day!
It is still raining today. Yes we normally get lots of rain, but this is even wetter for us.
Thus is life in a rain forest......
