The Battle is Over
« on: October 02, 2013, 08:50:59 pm »
Today our friend Dave passed away at the young age of 49. He was diagnosed with Hiv-Aids in April and developed HIV Dementia and then was diagnosed with Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy the middle of May. Now he isn't suffering anymore. Thank you for this wonderful forum that has given me hope and support. His wife is doing well on her Stribild thankfully.  Now my husband and I and her friends will hold her up and keep her healthy if we can since she was also recently diagnosed with advanced COPD. She also is only 49. Treasure life it is precious. God Bless and Keep All of You!

Karry, Thank you. I feel so much better now that I know Dave isn't suffering anymore.  If only he would have taken his antiretroviral medicine but he just wouldn't. The doctor told him he might have a chance if he took his meds but he became fatalistic when he got the PML diagnosis since the doctor said it was untreatable.

Hello everyone! I check the forum often and want to thank you all for being so helpful during our bests friends very short battle with HIV-Aids. His wife is doing well  on her anti-retroviral drugs. The holidays were hard but we find comfort knowing that Dave is no longer in pain.  I wouldn't have been able to handle it again without your help.

Martha,

I extend my sympathy to all of you.

We would all be so lucky if we have a friend like you at life's end.

Please invite Dave's wife to join us if she'd like.

There are enough women here to give her added support, answers and even humor whenever she's ready to pick a name and jump in our pool.

And, as you already know, the men here are supportive beyond words.

Em

Thanks for the update. It's good to know that your friend is doing well and that you both got through the holidays despite Dave no longer being here. Bittersweet times I'm sure.

More hugs,
Ann

Thank you EM and Ann, I told my friend to feel free to drop in and say hello. I think she registered but hasn't ever commented.
