Oh, gay romance cover art. I love you.
« on: September 25, 2007, 05:53:16 am »
Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with some of my friends when they link me to these things, but it does provide some interesting stuff to post about.

We're all familiar with the stereotypical art of romance novel covers. Some guy whose body is disproportionate to his head is usually holding some woman in an awkward, contorting position while her hair blows due to some wind that is also quite convienantly blowing open the guy's shirt (if he is wearing one at all).

I pretty much thought this was a hetero thing until just my friends showed me the covers of some books by an author who, of all things, honestly, writes gay romance historical fiction. Holy shit.

What the fuck is THAT? It's very Disney-looking only wrong. And what the fuck is in his pants?! A beach ball?! And note the painting of the guy on the wall that is TOTALLY watching them. This is some freaky shit. I'm waiting for the table to come to life and start singing to them.

Just thought I'd share. =D.

It's like a New Romantic movement version of Tom of Finland.

I'm sure someone who allows a picture of a guy with what looks like a medium sized animal in his pants on the front of her books writes wonderful fiction.

Stephen Clair, the notorious Earl of St. Joseph, has a lover he cant afford, a social calendar thats out of control and a libido that rules his life. If he cant get control of all of them, he will fall into financial ruin. Could the youthful, handsome and dependable Jamie Riley be the solution to his problems? Jamie Riley has a secret that keeps him from accepting the sexual advances of his employer, Stephen Clair, and a past he would like to leave behind. But Stephen is a man who knows how to awaken a passion that Jamie has been trying to suppress, and carries a price that Jamie would rather not pay. But it isnt easy to ignore passion, especially when its so temptingly close. Julian Jeffries, lover to Stephen Clair, has found a way of living the high life without lifting a finger. It isnt until Julian notices that Stephen has been spending time with his latest employee, Jamie Riley, that he begins to worry about losing everything hed schemed to have. Now Julian needs to find a way of getting rid of Jamie without raising suspicion. And, as Julian knows, the best way to do that is to dig into Jamies past and find something to use against him.

Sounds dramatic! :D

Not for nothin' but I have found toon art very very sexy indeed.  If anyone has global male pass and is into toon erotic, I strongly suggest one looks up ream of the Crop and then Hard Edge for pretty good listing of toon art by artists (under hard edge) You can also check out Kev's Cave section called forbidden Drawings.

Ah yes, I remember furtively buying Merrick's books and rushing home with them.  Good times.

Makes you wonder too at what point does the "grain of truth" come into play.  :)
