Met someone.... how and when to tell
« on: August 17, 2014, 02:13:43 pm »
Hi ladies,

I'm talking to this guy that I've known for over 10 years... we always liked  each other  but we never hooked up.. now after all this time we're talking again and it seems that this time it could definitely lead to more. The only "problem" is that he does not know about my status. I am so scared to tell him. Im not open about my status, no one knows about it so it will be the first time I would tell. Im afraid that this will come with a lot of emotion and I dont want to scare him.. I mean if I can keep it small, Im undetactable, it might be easier for him to handle..

I kind of feel quilty that I did not tell him yet.. But I find this so damn hard..

I kept all men at distance for the last 3 years because of this.. I get enough of attention but I could never get the words out of my mouth: I've got hiv.. So scared of the reaction you might get that I would just walk away when things got closer.

Could you please give me advise?

thnx Icequeen

To mention this is not to pick on you. Only to point out how many HIV positive people on this site seek advice on being with or how to find an HIV negative partner.
I am surprised at the support they receive. This disease is still not curable.
I would suggest telling him and let him decide. If he comes back to you then he can accept it.

Hi IQ

How great that the ocean of life returned a former spark to you.

I gotta good feeling about this– No matter how it goes.

First, how much more ideal could it be than to share your closely-guarded secret with someone you've known for a long time?

Second, whether he accepts it and decides to become involved with you or decides not to, you need the experience of disclosure.

It will strengthen you.

Best
Em
