The Lola Bear. I first mentioned her to you good people nearly three years ago. Here herz is today. I have never, ever had such a bond with an animal as this. I am a dog lover, but this has still turned out to be more profound of a relationship than I ever expected.

for a hard luck pup, found abandoned on church steps down the road, she certainly fell into a soft spot.

I haven't "trained" her really at all, yet she does just about everything I want exactly as I wish. For example, one thing she WON'T do (at least yet) is a leash. I just reread through the old puppy thread and pulled this quote. It's stil true. I can hold her like a baby and even upside down and she won't flinch at all. She now weighs about 50 lbs.

Dogs are the best medicine. It's almost like they know what we are thinking. At least that's what Sam told me. Lola's a cutie-patootie.

for me. I'm about to snag a cup o' joe and take Lola for a quick walk. Had insomnia all night and only got about an hour's sleep. Now it's at the point that I might as well load up on coffee and just get out in the morning.

You know, Joe...it has occured to me more than once that in my largely errant life, she may stand as the one thing I can look upon and confidently say that I got right. Her gait is lively, her head high, her demeanor gentle and she knows no strangers.

In her own way, though, shes rescued me many times over.

No one can love you like a dog, they truly are mans best friend. There's a poor sweet dog in Brazil who will not leave his owners grave. The picture speaks a thousand words...

since we're sharing dog pics, here's me and lady godiva of the lake, call her diva, she was a great dog, lived a long happy life, miss her

she's old in this picture, but she still ran down to the lake to play with kids in the water, this is the walk back feeling her years

Tim,
Miss Lola is quite the beauty for sure. I know exactly what you mean when you say that you rescued each other. I feel exactly the same way about my oldest dog, Waldo. When we found each other we were both pretty broken, him physically (Leg dislocated, fractured pelvis) and me emotionally. We have brought out the best in each other. There are now five dogs in my life, as well as one husband, and a psychotic Cockatiel named Doody. I honestly believe that if Waldo and I had not found each other, I would never have been able to connect with Norm (or anyone else), would have been unwilling to go through all the cancer treatments/Transplant shit. Although it wasn't apparent at the time, I really think he saved my life. Congratulations to you and Lola, and may you both have many happy years together.
