Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Cunnilingus Question

I am a female who received oral sex from a male.  I recently tested negative for HIV, and he has indicated that he has also tested negative for HIV.  I was also fingered by him.  He masturbated himself onto my chest.  I have no open cuts or abrasions.  I did not perform oral sex on him.  I was feeling very guilty about this, and am worried that I may have exposed myself to something.  Is this a risky situation, and should I go get tested?

PG, absolutely nothing which you did put you at risk for HIV transmission.

You do need to read our lesson about Transmission. You can find a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section. The most essential information you need to know and follow is that if you have either vaginal or anal intercourse the guy has to be wearing a latex condom. Everytime. No exceptions. No matter what you think you know about your partner or how great he looks or anything else. A condom is a must. Period.

If you're just becoming sexually active it can be very exciting and also anxiety provoking. Go at a pace that's right for you and always, ALWAYS do it the safer way with condoms for intercourse.

This time out you have no cause for concern about that incident in terms of HIV.

The answer is still no.  HIV is not transmitted by fingering.  Use condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse every time and you should have no worries.

Guilt is a whole other matter and is unhealthy for both the body and the spirit. No kidding.

As far as HIV is concerned you have no cause to worry about this incident. REALLY!

Just wanted you all to know that I too was a fanatical worrier about HIV infection.  Could I get it this way, or that way... and to be honest, the worry was all over nothing.  I just had my well-woman check-up and had every test run from here to eternity - no HIV!  However, I did test positive for Herpes II virus.  :o If you're going to worry about something (not to say that worrying is OK, because it's not all that great to do to yourself), worry about that.  I had no outbreaks, no indication that I might even have herpes.  But I do, so I'll deal with it just like millions of other people.  My point is that once you let fear take over, it can ruin your life.  It did mine for almost 10 years - time I can't get back.  So, go get tested for whatever may be scaring you and get your results and move on.  The moderators here are absolutely fabulous, and they know what they're talking about.  Listen to them!!!
