Diehard (or not) Tears for Fears Fans
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:55:02 am »
I recently found out that they are doing some dates on the West Coast and this is one band that I've always wanted to see. I decided since tickets were cheap and I had a free flight, I'm taking myself to see them for my birthday in Los Angeles.

Santi didn't want to go at first, citing costs, etc., but last night I convinced him he needed to go for his birthday, too...especially since I'm taking an extra day to stay on the beach in Venice. He loves the beach, and he likes the band, so off we go in September to L.A.

Who likes Tears for Fears? Only 37 GA floor tickets left for the historic Wiltern in Koreatown...

YAY! The early stuff is the best IMO, but I  bought some of their later releases a couple of months ago and it's enjoyable if a little mellow...Not pushing the edge of eyeliner like The Hurting was at the time. I got a lot of "you're a very different boy, aren't you?" comments when I tried to turn people onto that in high school.

Ah, well The Hurting was released three months before I graduated high school so I didn't have to bother those retards with it.  Now try turning everyone on to Pete Shelley's Homosapien two years before that as a sophomore.

I saw them in their heyday with OMD.  They sounded great in concert... although I was soooo high I couldn't remember how to get to my car afterward.
