Due to a post of a member who asked of what depends rise of CD4 ................and how far could it goes ?

SASA39, I realize English is your 2nd language and I don't want to be taken as insulting to you but that sentence was hard to comprehend.

But I'll take a stab in the dark: I was diagnosed in '93 with something like 183 cd4's or so. For the next 3 years or so I hovered slightly higher in the +200 area, though it did dip back to the 180's that first year a 2nd time. However, once I got past the first 3 years I maintained in the 300-400 area.

It's A LOT of work though, when you start with low numbers. You don't have room to fuck around with things, etc. Some people seem to stay in the lower numbers for years though so it's really dependent on how each individual's body responds.

I guess my biggest advice is that the lower your numbers just do NOT be missing doctor's appointments, and you should be going monthly as far as I'm concerned.

oh i get it now... sorry to have been so rude

when i went to see the first doctor, to whom i said fuck you and walk out, he'd told me that i have AIDS and my t cell was at 11 and i have thrush and i had to take all these medication, which made me think that they were hand in hand with the pharm companies to push more drug sales.

anyways, a month after that i was in the hospital with 50 percent oxygen intake due to PCP and the whole time in the hospital i was arguing with my doctor that it wasn't pcp and that it was something else.

since that time, last time i checked, my t cell was at 16! My doctor is such a hottie too, looks like a blond superman with AIDS, so I trust him completely now, he really seemed to have cared about me.

no worry, its not the end of the world, just follow what others on this forum tell you, and once you get healthy and reach high cd4 count, you can then decide on your own, with a guidance from your doctor, on what to do about your health or medication.

I started at 22, so hahahaha, I started out better than egello. I am now at 450'ish.

When diagnosed in May 2006, I was at CD4 count of 42.

I started Truvada and Kaletra the following week and immediately started feeling better and stronger. After being on meds for around 6 weeks (near as I can figrure), I started or fell into a severe mental train wreck, and for some reason stopped taking my HIV meds from approximately last half of July until probably mid October. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS! I LITERALLY LOST MY MIND AND WAS NOT MYSELF.

Since October, I have been (lets say) 90% compliant, and from December 20, last year, I know for a fact that I have been taking the meds every day as directed. Two weeks ago, we (Doc and I) decided to change to Atripla as I was still showing some viral load, and he was concerned that Kaletra was not doing its trick.

Dec 20 blood work showed CD4 count of 262, which considering my compliance problems is pretty decent. Had blood drawn last week and waiting for those results.

When I was diagnosed in September 2004, my counts were CD4 90/9%, VL 750,000 (yikes!) I immediately went on truvada and sustiva, and luckily for me, my counts quickly rose. As of December 2006, my numbers were CD4: 623/27%, VL<50. I have been 100% adherent to the medications, though I switched to the one-pill a day Atripla in December. I'm 47 btw, so I'm doing very well even though I'm not a young pup.

I started at CD4 13 at the beginning of February 2006. VL 303,000.

It's barely a year later and as of Dec. 2006, CD4 168, VL < 50 (i've been undetectable since my first lab draw after starting Sustiva/Truvada). I've got a lab draw pending so hopefully it's higher.

Yeah it takes a long time....that's something I wasn't prepared to deal with when I started taking meds, and it's been a hard lesson in patience for me.

Hubby started out with 85 CD4s in May 06 and had his labs done Feb5 and his CD4s are 252.

My CD count is 450 with vl of 600, my partner's cd4 is 250 and vl of 1.5 million. He starting Atripla in the next few days. Sigh. oops I realized this was for below 100 sorry!

Sept 2005 vl 500,000, cd4 85, % 5.
Started meds in oct 05.
Jan 2007 vl <50, cd4 450, % 16.

My cd4 seems to have stabilized at 450 for the last few labs over the past year.
But I just cant get that % to go up. Its rapidly went from 5% to 16% within 6 months,
but now is sits there at 16%. So, naturally, the doc poo poo's it and cheers the cd4.

BUT...
A good friend out in CA was at my starting figures back in 95 when he was tested and found out.
Today, he's vl<50 (has been for years and years), cd4 900 and % 32.
THATS a true success story, but he also takes a lot of vitamins and supplements, exercises a lot, and has been on SS disability since 96 or 97.

He says it took some years to get to such good numbers. And he believes not having to work has made the difference in getting to those great numbers (like being retired, no stress). He always says if I could go on SS disb too, my numbers would get even better. He has little money, being on SS disb, but he's a farm kid from iOwa, so he's use to having little and wanting little.

Me, I have to have my plasma tv, HD dvd player, nice car, lots of computer toys and all that material girl stuff. So I work (and work, and work).
Oops, gota run and buy a lottery ticket. Ya never know.

I'm waiting to either hit it big in the lottery, or find out Ross Perot is really my long lost uncle and I'm in his will.
I think the chances are better for the second scenario happening.

Hello Sasa

Diagnosed positive in 1985. Began treatment in October of 2003 with t-cells at 16, viral load at 500,000. Percentage at that time was at 4 percent. It now currently sits at 12%, the highest it's been since starting treatment.

All of my numbers since starting meds can be read below, and are up to date.

I have an OI the complicates the issue. Was diagnosed with HIV 1984 LTNP CD4 1400's no meds for almost 21 years then I crashed and burned. CD4 52 VL 125000 then it went to 200 after almost 2 years and back down due to meds counter action. I'm now at CD4 57 VL undetectable, but still have an OI that is preventing the increase in my CD4 levels.

I was diagnosed in Sep 06 with an oral thrush and fatigue. It turned out that I had a t4 count of 1 (hey, could be worse, couldn't it?). I called him Rocky because he was a brave little chap and he did a jolly good job preventing the worst. Went on meds and on my latest check in Dec 06 I had 41 Rockies.

april 2005 : after 8 years of being diagnosed

Cd4 count : 7
VL : over 5.000.000 ( 5 million copies)

At one time I came back to a CD4 count of 950
Undetectable since 1995

So ,never loose the courage.
Things can take a turn for the better from the darkest situations.
