Title: Test your gaydar!
Post by: Miss Philicia on May 20, 2008, 09:36:38 pm: A friend of mine went to the prom this past weekend, and I was asked to select the young homosexual in the picture.

Options 1-4 form from the left (i.e. the boy on the far left is 1, and then move across to the far right for 4).

Poll runs for five days, and feel free to offer commentary.

That is exactly what I thought - #4 because of the hands. He's the least comfortable.

One, not setting the gaydar off at all.
Two, is setting it off, however, the holding the jacket like that is a play straight thing, plus the lilac is probably his dates dress color.
Three, his hands are closed on the shoulder's of the other 2, not really gay.
Four, uncomfortable, closeted most likely if he is gay.

At this age a gay kid is usually pretty out there...in that case it would be #2 or #3.

Guess still would have to go with...#2.

OHHH wait...#1 has his hand open on the other guys shoulder, pretty well dressed too. I go with #1 now.

Almost all the guys have their arms around a buddy and seem comfortable except #4. He seems isolated and to himself (similar to the way I appear in pictures, never grabbing anyone and very independent). Besides, #4 has the perfect skin to match any colored dress or wig for his drag-wear!!! ;D He'll have a ball...

all the bullshit aside, i still think it's either 1 or 4. im leaning for number 1. philly is definitely working us a good one : )

You can, with almost 100% accuracy, figure out which of the people walking towards you is a gay man. It's a result of some fairly basic primal human nature. Straight men check out every woman walking there way, no matter how briefly, their eyes just naturally take a glance to sum up the potential. Women check out other women, often with scorn, to sum up the competition. Gay men check out other men in the same way straight men check out women. It ain't rocket science.

So, as to which of the 4 is gay, I have no idea.

Had an eye-opening experience here in Amsterdam tonight. Rather than strike out on my own as I usually do, I succumbed to the pleading of a couple of the guys from our local office to go clubbing with them. Which, of course, was to a straight place. Boy was that challenging for me! Completely different vibe. My buddies are continually calling out chicks whom I should examine, and every single time it diverted my attention from some hot cutie I'd be oogling and constructing fantasies about. Sigh. And knowing that the targets of my affections would most likely be unwelcome of any advances (gays in straight clubs never show their gayness, it seems), I just pretty much danced to myself. Had a good time until the last DJ started, who was dreadfully unable to play anything more aurally intricate than sinple four-beat house always in the key of F minor. Soooooper yawn. So we vamoosed.

Off to Brussels tomorrow, taking the high-speed train. Nice change from planes and airports.

Not really sure since I personally didn't come out till I was 21 and only admitted to myself around the age of 17..
I'll stick with #4.

My gaydar works best when I get a chance to talk with them. So far I'm 100% when it comes to pegging co-workers.

I agree with you totally. If anyone had to watch me they would know immediately. I am always sizing up the guys. I do it subconsciously.

Anyway I voted no 4.

If I had to choose according to what they are wearing then, I doubt tis 2 or 3. What they are wearing is so miss matched. A gay guy would at least match his clothes. - That does sound like a very big generalization.

Actually that "mismatched" is the "new black" right now dear. It's harder to pull off than you think -- like mixing different scaled herringbone. So, in fact, #3 is not just gay but uber-gay.

Plus he's the only one there who tied his bow tie -- the others are clip ons.

And I'd be willing to bet he didn't spend a lot of money on his wardrobe. I imagine he had most of it already and perhaps bought the tie to finish it off. The shirt could be new also.

Well, had you said that from the start, that would have been a dead give away for me. Hand tied bow ties, a time honored tradition, that few have continued. I have several in my closet.
