Hey Ricky,

A CD4% of 14.3 means it's probably high time to start medications. Best of luck with the new combo.

Hey Ricky,

Yep, those numbers would sure tell me to start meds. Friday will be the first day of a new offensive against the bug for you.

I have high hopes you will do well. Keep us posted on how things go.

Ricky,

For many people the side effects of sustiva subside after a few weeks. For others it can be a bit longer. It can be rough at the start, but sustiva is a potent drug with an excellent record of viral suppression so it's well worth persevering.

You can do this, babe.

Regards,

MtD

Think of it this way if it helps: you had a bad night, but it was much worse for your HIV. And it's still sucking just as bad for those little bastards, all day long, 24/7. Odds are good that you will feel better soon. They won't.

The first night was the worst but it does get better.    I had problems sleeping through the night but that passed after about six weeks.  The key is to watch your dinner and for most, there is a link between the side effects and the amount of fat they ate at dinner.  I eat no later than 7-8pm and take my tablets at bedtime.  Sustiva really knocks me out now but back in the early days I would have said you're lying if you told me that.

I'd be curious on your results after the first month.  I got tested about 30 days after starting meds and was undetectable and the CD4's were ticking up.  Sustiva and Truvada are really potent so wishing you good thoughts.

Also I would imagine that the first night is full of apprehension, which doesn't help. I like Ulong's post :) Apprehension should go away once you feel that the meds are working for you and not against you.
