Title: Diagnosed 06/2013, Treatment started 3 days ago.
Post by: EchaPalante on January 20, 2014, 06:12:32 pm
Hello All on the POZ.com forums!
I was recently diagnosed just "last" year at 22yrs. old.
And started treatment of Complera this month.
I have only been on it for 4 days so far. The only side effects I have had are extreme bloating/gas and a bad headache. Other than that, nothing else to note.

I have written this today to share some insight and look for Poz Penpals.

I was diagnosed 26/26/13 by my GP and am still waiting for appt to have blood drawn to get CD4 and VL numbers.

Was wondering if the reason for delay in you starting meds was purely due to doctors and their 'paperwork' and if this is a delay I should poss expect.
I'm located in Palm Springs and my dr. recommended to enroll in Deset Aids Project (DAP) providers of support and medical.

I expected to make appt. to enroll, see infectious disease doctor (ID), get blood drawn, all on same day, a week or so later get CD4 and VL numbers and then start meds immediately if necessary.

Oh no.  To get appt. to enroll took a week, then another appt to see case manager which was in 18 Jan. and I'm left hanging to see ID.

Trust you're well and happy. Take care. Keep in touch

Welcome EchaPalante,

I was too diagnosed late last year (at 29) and was in a world of trouble with my health when all this came to light.

A few months on my meds and I am back at work and feel better than I have for a long, long time.

Sounds to me like you have started your Meds at the right time and all is ok, relatively speaking.

You will be fine and you will find lots of support and communication on here.

Hi EchaPalante,

Welcome, I know this community will be helpful and supportive to you.

I was diagnosed recently too and started Complera today.  I'm curious about your side effects and how you are tolerating them now and how they progressed or resolved themselves.   Have you been taking it with a good meal? How do you feel?
