Is this normal? Is there a normal?
« on: June 01, 2013, 06:45:23 pm »
Thanks again for those who have taken time to jot a response. It has been so helpful to not feel alone, especially as I have not disclosed to anyone.

Question: I have been on Atripla exactly two weeks today, with very little side effects. Brief dizziness after taking (but I am usually asleep) and vivid dreams. However, the past 72 hours or so, I have been completely, totally exhausted. As in, barely able to get out of bed. Drained. Are there different side effects that hit at different times? My next appointment is still ten days away with my Doc and literally I can barely get to the bathroom and force myself to eat a bit the past three days. Just total exhaustion. Do different things "hit" and then leave? I realize these questions are totally subjective to each person - but just talking it through helps gain perspective. Thanks in advance. Any and all advice / perspective welcomed.

Steve , that doesn't sound normal to me , I think it may be a good idea to call your doctor or clinic and see if they can work you in earlier . I'm not saying its any thing to panic over but 10 days is a long time to wait under your current condition .

I agree with Jeff, you better go to see the doctor. That is not normal at all.

Steve:

When I started Atripla I had issues with sleeping that caused exhaustion. But once the sleeping issue was resolved the exhaustion went away. If not sleep, it sounds like something not quite right is going on.

Let your ID doc know - I had a friend complain of the same issue and it turned out the HIV drugs were stimulating the brain and even though his body rested his mind did not.
