Title: Fritz Bar, Boston - Private Brunch
Post by: AMG Coordinator on November 03, 2008, 11:29:01 am
Hi Everyone,

I have been speaking with the Owner of Fritz Bar, which is located beneath the our host hotel in Boston during AMG 2009.

Currently they serve a brunch on Saturdays and Sundays between beginning at 10am.

The manager has expressed interest in hosting our group for brunch either of those days, opening just for our group at 8am or 8:30, either day.  I'm thinking Sunday.  Our Brunch would include a preset menu at a reduced cost.

Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in before I proceed further.

I also advised we would be utilizing his establishment for our daily Social Hour. He has offered to put out free appetizers for us!

Also, please visit the Meet and Greet proposal thread and post you comments and feedback.  I would like to have a semi final schedule by January.

Ciao,
Dennis

I would certainly be interested in this.  Brunch, right downstairs from my room -- call me easy, but how could I complain.
Thanks Dennis.

Dennis,

Thom and I also like this idea and think Sunday would be fantastic.

As usual, AMG 2009 planning seems to be moving forward at mach speed.  Thanks for all your efforts.

Sounds like the owners of both establishments are very nice to work with - plus the hotel is lovely as is the area the hotel is located in.

I hope to come to my first AMG probably Thursday - Monday so I would be down for a private brunch on Sunday (although I think 830  is technically breakfast)

I think it's a nice idea.  We can eat and then spend our day exploring, etc.  I think once there's an idea of the cost involved, menu, etc  more people will want to join in.  Thanks for working on this!

Are we still doing this or has it been "replaced" with the Salem Witch tour?

Hi Mum,

I'd be more than happy to proceed with arranging this IF enough people speak up. Unfortunately, what I'm finding is...I'm throwing things out there, but enough people aren't speaking up and participating. The lack of participation from the majority of members regarding proposed events is what make the planning process the most difficult.

The owner was going to open his establishment early to cater only to us. Hardly worth doing for the few that responded to this thread.

So, if brunch is something you'd like to do as a group I'd be more than happy to finalize something for either Saturday morning or Sunday before heading off to Salem.

We're definately interested - if they'll let Mim in (it is a bar, after all).  I know you haven't had time, but it would be great to know what the "preset" menu would be.  I think a nice big brunch before setting off on the scavenger hunt would scave off the noon-time munchies.  Plus, it would make sure that everyone would be in the same place at the same time to leave for Salem.

Is the owner still willing to put out free appetizers for our daily social hour?

I just spoke to the manager. I've opted against scheduling a group brunch. Considering the majority of attendees have not show any interest in this thread, I'd hate for him to open his establishment early only for us and only have a handfull show up.

We're still talking, but so far he's offered 10% off on food (brunch). The most expensive item on the menu is steak and eggs at $11.95. He's going to see what he can work out as far as drinks. Apparently, it's against the law in Boston to offer discounts on alcohol. hors d'oeuvres /snacks will be placed out each day at 6:30pm.

I'll keep you posted. Keep an eye out in your welcome bags when you arrive!

The manager of Fritz called me today. He does want to offer us brunch while we are in Boston.

It would be a limited menu and priced at either $6.95 or $8.95 per person. Tax, gratuities, and cocktails would be extra. I'm waiting on him to send me a menu. I'll post here as soon as I receive it.

I'm thinking 10am Saturday morning, and then starting our scavenger hunt/city tour from the hotel around 12pm. What does everyone think?

Works for me -- I have to eat in the morning to take my Reyataz, so if I get to eat with all of you sweet (yet, oh so bizarre.......) folks, all the better.

O.k Kristina (and and everyone else).  Here's anything and everything you ever wanted to know about brunch at Fritz Lounge.

You can have breakfast/brunch either Saturday or Sunday or both, anytime between 10am and 12pm.
We don't need to dine as a group.

Special menu cards are being printed by the Chandler Inn. These coupons will detail the menu options. To ensure the waiter rings your bill correctly, you'll simply present one of these to the waiter when you order. Look for these coupons in your welcome bag. 2 will be included. One for Saturday, and one for Sunday.

You will have a choice of one the following discounts.

1. $8.95 would include all menu items (Except steak items), juice and coffee. Additional beverages and gratuity are not included.

2. $6.95 would include all egg items on the menu juice and coffee with the exception of "benedict" items.  Additional beverages and gratuity are not included.
