Another lab update
« on: March 06, 2007, 05:41:13 pm »
My labs continue to improve:

Sept 2006:  VL=undetectable, CD4=586, CD4%=25
March 2007: VL=undetectable, CD4=742, CD4%=28

My triglycerides have not moved, still 265 which is high but much better than the 1600 they used to be. Because my labs have improved I've decided to go for labs every 6 months unless I notice some physical change. I know this isn't the recommended schedule but my labs have consistently improved since 2003 and I'll save a couple of hundred bucks.

I've been trying to bulk up and yesterday reached my goal of 185 lbs, a 10 lb gain, and I think I'm the heaviest I've ever been. The best part is my waist has stayed the same size. I'm lifting more weight at the gym than I have ever lifted. Now I have to start "cutting" which means maintaining the muscle while losing the fat. Ironic that someone with severe lipoatrophy is still too fat for competitive bodybuilding.

I wonder what kind of shape I would be in if I had not been HIV+ for most of my adult life. Would I be less motivated to workout and in worse condition or would I be really strong and beefy because my digestive, metabolic and immune systems worked better? The bottom line is same I guess: everyone just has to do their best with what they have.

Ford, you are definitely doing the best you can with what you have!   I am proud that you are doing so well, great numbers, a great body, and a great mind and heart to go with it.   You're the total package.

Your guy is really lucky, I hope he knows that.....

Alan

Congratulations on the numbers, Ford.  I will copy your post to push in front of my n.p. as the logic behind a six month spread between my labs. :)  As for motivation, we all find in where we find it and if hiv has been yours, it's working well and getting results.  Best, Win

Well good luck with your fat loss but I just do't get it.  You look just fine to me, you've got great numbers, you're fit and trim.  And good luck with the training.
