Doing Oral Sex For 10 Years
« on: November 16, 2011, 04:05:17 am »
Hi, I sucked a guy barely 5 hours after i cut my gum during lunch and that it bled for awhile then it stopped. And i dont know his hiv status. However during oral sex, i noticed i still have a small amount of blood that's coming from my gum. If he is hiv positive, and i do oral on him, do you think i am at high risk for getting hiv?
Any answer is highly appreciated.

No risk. Saliva contains over a dozen diffent enzymes and proteins that inhibit HIV transmission. HIV is not transmitted by oral sex.

Just want to add my support for what Rod said. You are worrying needlessly and there is no need for testing.

Sexually the only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Using condoms for those activities is essential to be protected.

With the same exact scenario but he ejaculated in my mouth while my gum is still bledding from the cut, would this increase my risk? Is swallowing or spitting can make a difference?

Yes, basically same. You have a greater likelihood of being struck by lightning than you do of a problem with giving oral and HIV.

I can honestly attest that ive been sucking dicks for 10 years now and didnt know the hiv status of these people from the bath houses, sex clubs, etc.. I got my test result and i am still negative. I think some infos from CDC are exagerated because they said you may get HIV from Oral Sex.  Are there any cases recorded at all because i asked lots of men who do oral sex for years and they're still hiv negative?

I deleted the post you left in someone else's thread. Do not do that again, however well-meaning you may be. Please consider yourself warned!

There have been what's called "patient report" where people have reported becoming infected from sucking dicks, but patient report is highly unreliable. Some people cannot bring themselves to admit to unprotected anal intercourse and some people cannot remember what they did while under the influence of drink and/or drugs.

However, we do have reliable evidence. There have been three long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

Some websites, like the CDC, operate under a CYA (cover your ass) stance and some websites are just outdated. Hiv is a very emotional subject for many and unfortunately, they let their emotions dictate their advice instead of science. We base our hiv transmission advice in hiv science gleaned over thirty years. We rock. ;)

Make sure you use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will continue to test hiv negative.

Also make sure you get a FULL sexual health care check-up at least once a year, or more often if you're very active or if unprotected intercourse occurs. While you're not going to end up with hiv through oral, you can become infected with one of the other, more easily transmitted infections like gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes or syphilis. They can be present without any obvious symptoms and all of them can infect your mouth/throat. Regular check-ups are a must.

Hi mods here is another scenario of mine. I let this guy topped me for the first time and I did oral on him in the beginning and  later let him topped me. But this is what had happened, when he put  his condom on, he reversed the condom because it was in the wrong side. My question is, if the tip of the condom has a precum on it and he topped me, do you think i am at risk for hiv? Whats the likelihood that someone would get an hiv from a small amount or significant amount of precum?

Thanks to Ann, Randy and Rod for all the replies.

ed,

No, you don't need to worry about a flipped condom. Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. This is why a little bit of pre-cum on a flipped condom is not an hiv concern.

You seem to be doing all the right things. You use condoms for anal intercourse and that's exactly what you're supposed to be doing. I trust you also get regular, routine sexual health check ups and keep your dental/oral health in check?

For the record, here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple! Enjoy your sex life, and continue practising safer sex and you'll be just fine.

Ann

Ed,

I just deleted ANOTHER post you left in someone else's thread, despite me telling you that kind of activity is not permitted here. (see reply #7 in this thread) You've been back in this thread since then and replied, so you've got no excuse.

Rather than banning you outright (as I could), I'm going to give you a twenty-eight day time out. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you WILL be permanently banned.

If and when you come back after your time out, make sure you follow our posting guidelines or you'll be banned. Please take this seriously - we do.

Hi Ann, I apologize if i created a new thread before that caused 28 days time-out and i hope this thread goes to the right place now. If it's not, then let me know what i did wrong.

But I do have a question though. Last night, i had oral sex with a guy for about 1 hour and swallowed most of his precum. Then few minutes later, the guy kissed me and we engaged in heavy deep kissing with our toungues out that lasted about an hour. Then after that we also had 69 and he was rimming me for 30 minutes. This was an On and Off activity over the course of 4 hours because we were also watching NFL games and drink beers in between times.

My question is, if i had passed the precum from my mouth to his mouth, then he rimmed me afterwards, do you think im at high risk of getting HIV because of that? How risky is this behavior if someone's precum got into your ass thru rimming? What if there are lots of precum in his mouth? Is heavy deep kissing also a risky behaviour? Also how risky is swallowing a precum?

Thanks for all the mods who are here responding my posts.

Ed,

I didn't give you a time out because you started another thread, I gave you a time out because you responded to a question in someone else's thread again after being warned to not do it again. It was the third time you disregarded our posting rules.

Only people who have been authorised to respond to questions in this forum (Am I Infected) are permitted to do so. People who repeatedly violate this rule (one we take VERY seriously) will be given one chance and one time out. Repeated violations of this rule will result in a permanent ban.

Neither kissing - deep or otherwise - nor rimming are risks, even if precum or cum is present. Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

Okay Ann, thanks for clarifying my error in postings and also answering my questions.

So is swallowing precum or even cum not a risk for hiv? Does the viral count also a factor of infection for these activities?

Ed,

If a person has a sky-high viral load (hundreds of thousands or millions) and you have terrible oral health, then you can theoretically become infected by getting cum or pre-cum in your mouth. However, you're more likely to have the guy's dick spout hundred dollar bills than you are to become infected this way. Maintain good oral health and stop worrying.

Hi, I have another question, whats the likelihood of a top man (Bisexual), who had never been a bottom nor sucked a dick in his entire life would be infected of HIV from an HIV positive person who is a bottom? And which one poses more risks in transmitting it to the top person, the male bottom or the female bottom? Thanks.

How about just keeping it simple. As long as condoms are used consistently and without exception for vaginal and anal intercourse you will be well protected against HIV transmission.

Hi, i am curious, is it true that if you hare having sex with an hiv positive person without a condom, the chances is 1 into 50, meaning that it is about 5% chance that you will get infected? let clarify this info.

Thanks.

Statistics are quite useless when determining the real-life risks associated with unprotected heterosexual contact.

Things like:

Viral load of the positive partner
overall health of both partners
type of sexual activity, roughness, duration

and many other variables make determining sexual acts between the SAME two partners problematic, let alone multiple partners.

Is HIV much harder to transmit from woman to man? Yes.  But how much? As Ann says, how long is a piece of string?

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

Ed,

I wish that study and those stupid numbers would be banished from the internet. It was discounted years ago as the numbers they came up with were basically pulled out of thin air. I mean think about it. They could not take (for example) 100 positive people and 100 negative people, make them have sex, and see how many ended up positive. To say a study designed like that is unethical would be the understatement of the century.

I know of men who went for years as unprotected tops who never ended up poz. I've also known men who were unprotected tops who became poz after only one or two times of barebacking. Do you really want to gamble with your hiv status? Because that's what you'd be doing. You'd be playing roulette with your health. Trust me, unprotected intercourse really is NOT worth it.

Unprotected intercourse lasts a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.
