There is a high school on my university's campus. Yesterday I noticed half the boys wear their jeans below their cheeks.

This seemed to have disappeared for several years, and now suddenly its back?

The jeggings covered the butt last year but now they seem to have fallen as low as the baggy pants of a couple of years ago.

Just saying. I guess this is a mundane thing now.

Two cute skater types on the bus, fussing with their perfect haircuts for 15 minutes each. Like the young Travolta but that was in his bedroom mirror.

Metrosexuality? I'm getting old.

The boys in our country don't let their pants fall down like that anymore, but they did for a while.
What they do do is work on their hair obsessively.
I guess working on their hair is easier than going to the gym.
I would rather see a well physically fit boy with bad hair instead of skinny girly boys with perfect hair.
Then again I am an old man!

I googled and found the look, on Zac Efron no less.
Skinny jeans, but saggers nonetheless. Pic is 2 years old. Takes a while to dribble down to Swiss teenagers? But the jeans are skinnier now. With briefs, not boxers, by the way.

Yeah it really surprised and then transfixed me. On the bus in public. Finally I was surprised they didn't start doing each other's hair.

It was like the Working Girls in the 80's doing their make-up on the Staten Island ferry in the morning. That film told the truth. But now its teenage boys doing their hair. Like the Bug's Bunny cartoon where he does the monster's hair.

I don't post pictures cause I never set up a picture hosting account.

One of the things I was struck by is exactly that - they are high schoolers, and surely have budding sexualities, but I guess cause Im so old, they seem so young. It is a kind of Lolita exhibitionism but its male.

Are the young Swiss adults also obsessive about their cell phones?
Every person I see is talking on the phone or texting.
I have even seen, on many occasions, texting while driving motorcycles.
We always wonder what is so exciting in their lives that they feel the need to tell others as it happens.

Please tell me it is only in my part of the world!

Haha you wish it were just in your part of the world. There are 4 billion cell phone contracts in this world.

I had a shit fit a year ago when my teenage nephew was texting while driving me, in a snowstorm. He can't put the thing down.

I had a long chat today with two smart students (college) who are constantly multitasking in class. I guessed their GPA's (average, whereas both could have perfect grades if they felt like it) and asked them the cost benefit and rationales for keeping constantly entertained in part of their mind with technology. They had good answers but went white face when I explained the fact of downward mobility in the USA and how that could easily happen here. I said, if you ain't brilliant, you'll want that Masters just to guarantee a really comfortable life. (They started their rationalization for constant distraction by saying their lives were so comfortable they didnt need to be excellent in anything....) Seems like engineers and techies should realize that outsourcing could evaporate their "guaranteed" 1st world futures.

Oh, just to tie in with the saggers. It disappears at 18. I don't see the college guys in saggers. Its a teenage thing.

As far as preening teenagers with odd hair and clothing, that's just part of being an adolescent. Personally I don't find fussiness sexy.

its a phase... My little brother is a "goth emo" type, wears skinny jeans, and more eye liner than his girlfriend does. He got his ear lobes stretched out, big plugs in them. My mother called me crying wanting me to talk to him. What do I say? At least he's not covered in permanent tattoos like me Mom.

The gangster sag is ridiculous, meant to shock and awe. The more attention given to it, the more they feel validated.

Whenever some of the young lads who drink in my local (easy now, they're all over 18) turn up with their jeans halfway (or more) down their ass, I always give the elastic of their knickers a snap. If they complain (not all of them do!) I tell them the simple remedy is to pull their jeans up like a real man instead of wearing them like they're three years old and need mummy's help after they've been to the loo.
