Wish me well gang.
« on: April 18, 2008, 09:13:30 am »
I am just now leaving to drive to Greensboro to have my case heard by an Administrative Law judge regaring my SS disability. It has been four years in the making.
The state has had to draft judges from outside to help the current backlog. The judge I am going before has come from Louisville KY.

Send me some positive vibes friends. :)

I have sent almost half of my life forces to you. Four Years, I can only imagine what you have been gong through. It has been 6 months since I filed and have had two denials and am now 'waiting' for an appearance before a judge I have been told could take 1-2 years. I have Binder & Binder working for me and still I worry as money is so tight.
What is it in your medical record they don't understand?

keep on hanging in there..

Honey,

I'm praying with everything I've got that this goes well for you.    I'm anxiously waiting to find out what happens....

I was at the eye doctor's office this morning, and I started thinking about you and praying that all goes well....it got me sort of choked up, because I love you so much and have been so worried about you.   The nurse asked if I was ok....I said "having my eyes dilated always makes me cry".....

Love & hugs,
Alan

Thank you for all of your positive thoughts and karma. In the end, he did finally make a favorable decision.
You all will almost shudder at this though......He went on a tirade about A)The fact that I am able to write a blog(despite not having done so in several months)  B)In HIS estimation my problem was all stemming from depression, and he was about to deny me until I had sought out psychiatric, or psychologic help for a few months. This because I became a bit wistful about not being able to do my job anymore.
There was an occupational therapist on hand to give expert advice, and her recomendation was that there was not a job desciption that I could possibly fit into. She totally saved my plus sized behind!

WHEW!! I just knew I was going to be sent away for a period of time. If he had made that ruling, I would have gone right there into pieces.
I got lost going, and coming home. So I am off to settle down for a bit. My nerves are shot to hell.

....and she lived happily ever after....kinda, sorta.....

Yea!  It sucks that you had to be 'saved', but screw it.  The results are what counts.  I'm happy for you.

I just read Hal's post...  retroactive pay would be great!

He was about to make retro to last Sept, when I ceased blogging. I almost threw up a little in my mouth.
In the end he did lend creedence to my original complaint of profound fatigue, and confusion.
My case will be covered retroactively to the original filing in November of 2004.

Congrats on everything, Lisa. You deserve it. I've heard horror stories before about people having to get a lawyer to fight to get them disability. Has this always been going on? I didn't have to fight much, they denied me twice and I got it on the third try after my ID doc did the paperwork. How frustrating those 4 years must've been, glad it is over and you got it.

Congrats Lisa on the decision going your way...I know how difficult and painful even the little movements and things other people take for granted have been for you.  I'm glad it's retroactive and you can maybe treat yourself to a great dinner or something special.  It's a load off your mind and good luck going forward.

Great News, Congrats, and ABOUT TIME! It's a pretty sad state of affairs this SS disability. MY stepmom was dying of cancer and getting dialysis. A SS disability check for 20,000 in retro pay arrived the day we returned to her house from her funeral. There ought to be a better way~

All my best to you-

I was wondering the same thing about blogging? How long do you spend doing that for a week an hour maybe 2, that is crazy!

Thanks so much everybody! Your sweet responses have touched my heart.
The judge thought that if I could sit down to a desk to blog, even if it was only for an hour at a time, then I was capable of doing SOMETHING. Will someone explain to me how finding a job that will allow me to only work an hour or two at a time, with an anticipation of probable missed days, to be able to maintain a dwelling. (along with other such luxuries as heat, food, and water)
There was a brief break where the transcriptionist needed help to make sure her entries were being recorded, and I am willing to bet that he looked up this site in his absence.
When the hearing was over and my attorney and I were well out of the building, the first words out of his mouth were "What a pompous asshole."   ....no argument there.. ::)   :P
Thanks again y'all. It is as if a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

I can't get over the fact that the judge thought that an hour of blogging=employability.  I agree with what your lawyer said ("pompous asshole").
