Just for people thinking of taking a taxi, a cheaper alternative is the Downtown Airporter shuttle bus, which costs $25 total both ways and picks you up at the airport and drops you off at the Hyatt which is only about 200 ft from the Roosevelt. This is how I'm getting to and from the hotel.

http://www.downtownairporter.com/

I don't want to have to deal with cabbies and huge costs and all that. This seems nice and simple and reliable!

Great detective work.  Thank you Ody!  This is always a no-hassle way of getting to and from an airport in a big city.  Not to mention the convenience of paying online ahead of time.

Gary

You're quite welcome! After talking with my mom I realized I didn't want to try and negotiate the public transportation with my luggage on my first day or when I was in a hurry to get to the airport, so I found this on the city's website. I've already got my tickets booked! Glad I could help the group with some info!

Am I missing some not listed but attending?
Wolfie's list only had people traveling into town. I know that there are several AM peeps that already live there (for example buginme2 and lipoenvy), so they aren't listed in any of the travel arrangements.

I know in another thread you said you weren't attending, lipoenvy, but does that mean you can't attend the meet-n-greet and/or the memorial? We'll be there Wed-Mon, so surely you can find a couple hours to swing over and visit with some of us, right??  ;)

And how about you, buggy? We'll be right there in town ;), i bet you can stop by for a while too, huh?

Anyone else from Seattle?? Now's your chance to speak up! ;D

Thanks for the link, Ody. Hey Wolfie, that Shuttle Express has wine-tasting tours on Sat. ;)

yes, Jeff is listed for the 17th also; but I believe you need to edit your post again due to Carl's passing. :'(

I don't need to amend anything...you think I don't know Carl has passed, he has been a good friend of mine for years.

I don't understand why after I posted that nicely sorted list Jan felt the need to reiterate who was coming in with her on what day - as that information was clearly listed in Wolfter's posted information. All I did was sort the information so that we could more clearly see who was arriving when.

However, I do understand that Carl will be there in spirit, although we were hoping he would be there in the flesh, as will all those named in the memorial name list thread; but I don't understand why he would be listed with an arrival date. In no way am I trying to besmirch a fellow member and friend who has passed away and will no longer be able to physically attend.

Well....I suppose it's that it's still rather soon and we are feeling pretty raw about it at the moment.  I mean surely you can understand that.  You've been dragging the corpses of your dead lovers around monstop for years now - but it feels like you can't even wait for Carl to get cold in the ground before making your tidy amendments.

Is that clearer?

I'm not trying to start a fight.  I am not handling this passing well at all.  Just a little patience about it would be nice.

Hey All AMG Attendees!!
Have a super time -- take lots of pics....
Unfortunately, between helping my mother out since dad passed, the "dayummmm syphilis" that I have been posting about, and a workload that has gotten completely out of control suddenly - along with a work-related trip to DC in November and Atlanta and Orlando in December ----- blah, blah, blah --- there is no way I can make it.....  am I bummed?  EXTREMELY.  am I sad?  EXTREMELY.  but, will I be at the next one no matter where it is? - DEFINITELY.

Also, it was great to have been part of the planning --- from working through site selection, hotel choice, cookbook sales, and being a part of Grant Committee.....  we will be posting an update on the number of people who were helped through the generosity of so many members and the final amount raised....

Just know that I will be there in spirit - I will be thinking about each person in attendance (not with jealousy - but with happiness) ---- HAVE A BLAST --- DRINK SOME CORONAS FOR ME (no lime of course) --- and wear clean underwear (advice from my mom).

Love you all!
Safe travels.

Phil

Yeah - Will and I are both bummed about it -
but we both really enjoyed being part of Grants Committee and getting to know so many members better and see the generosity of so many in action.  (I think I can safely speak for him - and I'm sure he will also post).  I plan on hosting a get together (not necessarily to the level of an AMG) but a "get together" here in Miami this winter --- when everyone up North and out West wants a chance to thaw out.  Hopefully, I will get to meet some AMG members then.

Til then, I know that you all are going to turn Seattle out! ;D

Have a great time Carl - hope to get to meet you and a few other this winter - here in Miami -
and Will and I could not have even gotten the Grants Committee off the ground without the equal assistance of Nick and Jody - and the other members who shared their experiences and gave us guidance.  As always, AMG is truly an event that is member-driven - with everyone contributing to each part of its success - from hotel, to site, to meet and greet, to transportation, memorial service, t-shirts, etc. etc. etc.

I will be at the next one!

WooHoo! a 1000 hours later since 4am (my computer says it's 630 but my cell phone says 330), and a 1000 miles later (my camera battery already died because I took so many pictures!), James and mIkIE are in the Emerald City. We saw RAB, we saw Gary, and a host of others already!

And it's just 330. We went back in time (maybe this is Oz!) and gained 3 hours.

see everyone here for cocktails @ 630pm ;)

I'm not looking forward to getting up at 4:00am, but that's what we do for a 6:00 flight.  Morning flights rule - few delays, more time at our destination, and TSA and others haven't had a chance to get irritable yet!  We'll see you all tomorrow.

I've already had 8 cups of coffee and did my morning work out and there's still no one else up?  I guess people just want to sleep their way through this time.  Guess I'll go explore this beautiful city alone this morning.  Probably all those late night cocktails.  They should stick with white wine spritzers!

We will do our best to keep you "up to date" on AMG especially the scandalous parts!

It used to be tagged as sticky, but I just UNstickied it a little while ago because everyone has already arrived and departed. No need for it to be at the top any more.
