Clinical Latency Stage
« on: July 18, 2009, 07:26:08 pm »
I converted to positive in September 08. Ever since that of course I have been reading up a ton about the disease. Though have barely heard anything about the sympthoms during Clinical Latency.

What ARE the sympthoms or side effects during the Latency Stage.

I know that this is a period of no side effects really I hear. But what are the weak common side effects. I can never find much info on this.

These things can vary by individuals to a huge degree but the fact is that many people have zero symptoms during clinical latency. Clinical latency, of course, can last a long time, so eventually most people do start getting symptoms as the immune system is taxed more and more.

I found out in August 2008 because my partner tested positive so I got tested. He was already having many symptoms, he had lost weight, was extremely fatigued, had little appetite. If it had not been for him getting tested I would not to this day have had any reason to think I had HIV because I don't feel anything out of the ordinary at all. I started meds (today actually) because I want to at this point treat it before my immune system gets more damaged but I still feel totally fine, not sick at all, no symptoms of anything.

Many of the minor things that can happen when a person is in the HIV clinical latency period are things that can happen in general to anyone. I had a MRSA infection about 3 years ago for example, but many people without HIV get these so it's not necessarily a reason to think one has HIV.

I think what I am noticing is that I am having issues with neuropathy. Its not so much paranoia, but I feel that after I acquired HIV my body has been feeling.. different.

I do meditation, yoga so I notice the little things more. Though I am not on meds.

really high inflammation markers on blood tests (tests for c-reactive protein).

It's quite possible I have high inflammation markers but I don't think those tests have been done on me.

One thing I forgot to mention, which, before I knew I had HIV I had no reason to attribute to HIV, is that I get headaches, sometimes migraines. As with the MRSA, since many people who don't have HIV also experience headaches/migraines, it's hard to pinpoint how much of it is due to HIV, though some of it, if not all of it, must be.

theroof: When you say neuropathy, can you describe what you are experiencing?

I feel that I have tingly feelings in my body. Usually I notice this when I more relaxed. I feel it more in the lymph nodes and neck. But of course its very minimal.

I did notice something. I've  never had more then one mouth ulcer in my life.

though in May I acquired two, that has never happened to me before. So in actuality I wonder if the HIV has something to do with it. When they say there is practically no sympthoms during this stage I understand what they're saying.
