1 Year on.. and Hello!
« on: August 18, 2013, 04:07:11 am »
Hi boys and girls!

Nothing too ground-breaking here, just the inaugural hello and thank you. I tested positive on July 25, 2012 after getting the dreadful call from my ex of 4 years. I would go into more detail, but as i have learnt this past year, the past is the past and this is now who i am.

I started treatment (Isentress/Kivexa) in April 2013 after a "last hurrah" trip to the states with my best friend - CD4 ~330 and VL 19,000. After the first month i went to CD4 ~390 and VL 20. Last month (would be just after my 6 months of meds), my CD4 is up around ~490 and VL undetectable.  Gold star right ?!?!!

As kindly directed by Doc, only the closest people in my life now know the real "me". But, i have to say, diagnosis has been the worst and best time of my life. Breaking my mothers heart in telling her was the lowest point, but then telling her my latest results also the best time. My health is good, my friends are amazing and life is going good... (without sounding like a confident pr*ck).

Fresh air, good friends, a sh*t load of laughs, smiles and a good job have kept me sane.  And of course you. Thank you for all your posts (even the sometimes stomach curling ones) .

So. Hi!  See you around :)

x

Hi Challenger89,

Welcome and congratulations on you undetectable status. Telling family is the harest part, and something I've not managed to do. Sounds like you've made great progress in a year.

Welcome Challenger!

Yes, you get a gold star!

Sounds like you are doing well all around and have a great support system. :)
Keep it up and you will get enough gold stars to cover the whole page.

The stomach curling posts come with the territory. Take a TUMS when it gets too much. ;)

Nice results.

How about slinging a couple of hundred of those cd4s my way.

Oh by the way it's perfectly fine to be enjoying life. A confident prick... hmmmm I like the sound of that!

Excellent. I like reading people's annual check-ins, especially when they are encouraging and optimistic.   I'm coming up on my second year of living with this diagnosis, and I look forward to writing about my experiences within the past year. I wish to check-in for many years to come, as well as hoping to read many of yours for years and decades to come.
