New Beginings (AGAIN)
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:13:58 pm »
Hi Friends,
I began feeling like crap in November. I lost 30 lbs and was not trying to lose weight. I was weak and fatigued. Time for an office visit.

Turns out my blood sugar was 450 and my A-1c was 10.8. Dr. says come in to get set up on insulin. It's been two weeks and I'm feeling MUCH better. I'm diabetic. SO new diet, eating healthy, and do a shot of insulin every night. What a relief! I stopped losing weight, too. Today I'm at 125 so all seems OK so far. I will learn more about one or two my next visit.
I feel blessed.

Damn Jeff I think it's time you have a stroke of luck... first the finger and now this.  Glad they got down to the bottom of it though.  Hope you are feeling much better now.

Thanks Skeeboi,
I'm glad a new year has arrived. My nephew died on Christmas eve(Overdose, accidental) so when i had diabetes, it was not that big of a deal. I'm just sad for my brother, but he is strong and has a loving wife. The service was moving. His two siblings told fun stories about the good times they had.
He was 28y.o. sad stuff.

Jeff,

You weigh 125 pounds? You are kidding me, right!

Lordy, you must be thin as a rail.

Keep up with your diet. I'm glad you figured out what was wrong.

HUGS,

Mark

Jeff, that's good that they got to the root of the problem quickly.  I've been diabetic for about 13 years, insulin dependent as well.  I saw a diabetic nutritionist, who helped me a great deal with the whole food thing.  I would suggest seeing one, I believe it really makes a difference.  Especially in understanding carbs, how much of what to eat, etc.  Good luck!

Betty,
Thanks for the well wishes. My DR. said since there is no history of diabetes in my family, it was caused by the aids meds I've been taking for so long.
I have a class in two weeks-looking forward to it!

Hey Jeff!

First, so sorry to learn of the loss of your nephew. Very sad.

You sound like you're taking this on with a good attitude and the nutrition class would probably benefit all of us.

Like Mark, I was reading 125 as your weight and I'm relieved to read it's not.

All the best.
Em

Thanks Em and Hermie. You two are so positive I am blessed to call you both my friends. You give me hope, which has escaped me these last few months.
Much love,
Jeff
