Title: St Jean sur Richelieu Balloon Festival
Post by: kypozguy on July 14, 2006, 08:10:42 am
Hello folks,

I am looking forward to attending the event in Montreal.  David & I just finalized plans last night for the weekend.   I am a hot air balloonist and during our event weekend there is a big hot air balloon festival going on in St Jean sur Richelieu.  This is outside of Montreal about 20 minutes if I recall correctly.  I have participated in this balloon festival twice with our special shape balloons in the past years.  (www.oxfordpromotions.com)  If anybody is interested in going out to see the balloons one night let me know.  I'm going to contact a few pilots I know that might be participating this year.  Once again looking forward to meeting you all in Montreal.

Hello Mr. KY (Snicker snicker):

Marc

Welcome aboard buddy, it's great to hear you'll be able to join us.

The balloon festival sounds like it's right up your alley, and it's something that has always been on my list of "things to do in my life".  (Riding in one I mean.)

I'm looking forward to meeting you and hearing all about your experiences in the world of HOT AIR BALLOONS!

RAB

(Who is full of hot air but has never been used it to inflate a balloon.   ;))

Welcome to the family Marc...

I am very pleased and yes, honored to call you my friend.  This forum family is very special to me and I am glad you have joined the ranks...even more pleased that you and I are attending Montreal (our first gathering) together.  Like Rab, I have long wanted to "take a ride" in a hot air balloon...  I hope it works out that we are able to do so....  Again, Welcome to the family! :-*

AlanBama,  the view is much better up IN the balloon!  but I understand!

Hey guys,

I spoke with my pilot friend and he is flying there this year.  There is a flight on Sunday night if the weather is good. Unfortunately he already has paid passangers for the flight.  Ballooning is his livelyhood!

This might be a good alternative for the ones that stay behind for the Quebec City trip.  I need to check the website to see what time is lift off in St Jean.  The morning flight might be to early for most of the guys specially after being out on the town on Saturday night.

There will be an entry fee into the festival since we probably won't be able to ride into the festival with a pilot with a pass.  We will see what happens and how many might be interested.  It all depends on the weather of course.

See you all soon.

Marc

Hey RAB,

I did contact my pilot friend and there is a flight every morning and evening during the weekend.  I thought maybe the Sunday evening flight would be the best for the schedule.  The early morning flights might be to early for some after the night before out on the town.  Plus if there are some that aren't going to Quebec City this might be another get away for the ones left behind.  Plus this is all weather permitting since they won't fly in rain or windy weather.  We will just evaluate the weather that weekend when we arrive and see whats best.

Looking forward to meeting everybody very soon.

Sincerely,

Marc Howard

Hi Marc

Thanks for the info.  I'm committed to the Quebec City trip, and I realize there really isn't any other place on the schedule to do this unfortunately.

So, even though it's something I know I would have loved, I won't be able to make the Sunday evening flight.

well.. i'm sorry, but somebody has to ask... being from the KY state and talking about special shape balloons... well, would one of the special shapes be a penis balloon?

Don't look at me like that!  You know you wanted to ask too! :P

 ;D

Never thought about that one but since I'm not from Kentucky, or Florida for that matter then it shall explain why I didn't think of that.  :o

ahhhh...  no....  however you can see all our balloons at our website at www.oxfordpromotions.com.  We fly the Wish Cake balloon and the Bouquet of Tulips.  The Wish Cake is a three tier balloon with 16 pink candles and 8 red roses.  The Bouquet of Tulips was designed by a Dutch pilot for the Netherlands.  It has the most obvious colors of Holland.  Red White and Blue in their flag and Orange in their sports team.  Its a huge balloon weighing 1200lbs.  However if you happen to venture to the website please ignore my photo on the site.  I was a bit younger in those pictures.  Look forward to meeting you all soon!  Four weeks from tomorrow.   Marc
