HELP US improve Forums Spell Checker
« on: September 29, 2006, 08:39:26 am »
Hey gang:

We can manually add words to the forums' spell checker list, so that it knows they are real words (and won't try to correct them when you try to spell check your postings).

We've added most of the brand and generic names of the anti-HIV meds, but there are LOTS of possible words used often in these forums that we've probably missed.

Ann just sent me 3 more:  Atripla, Prezista, and Stocrin.

Before I add these, I'd like to collect a much larger list, since the process of adding them is a little time consuming.

Please post replies in this thread with common HIV-related and Forums-related words that our spell checker tries to correct.  If you know of just one word, that's great -- I want to know what it is.  If you've got a list, even better.

Make sure the words you suggest are not already in our spell checker list -- you can test this by spell checking your reply in this thread, and making sure that each and every word in your list gets highlighted by the spell checker (click the "ignore" button each time so that it doesn't alter the words in your list).

Thanks for your help!

Hello Peter,

I am glad the spell check is there. My problem is, I keep forgetting it's there. And I usually end up editing later. There can certainly be some strange words created, just by missing the wrong letter on the keyboard :)

Looks like all our custom words got wiped out in the upgrade.  I'll restore them tomorrow.  Please don't post to this thread until I've posted here again saying the custom spellcheck dictionary has been restored.

Thanks,

Oldie, but goodie topic here.

I know there was a loss of some previously corrected spell check additions to the forums dictionary when they changed to the new server, but it does really irk me to keep seeing my "meds" being offered "melds"...or are you trying to tell us all someting, Pete? >:(
