Hello ladies,
Not sure if this is even the board I should be on. But Long story short
I'am Married I dont have HIV but my husband is + we found out 1yr ago this month. Since then the Emotions  have been so up and down. 1 year ago I thought my life was over
( I then did not know that I was not infected and even after 2 negative tests I STILL was in denial and thought they had to be wrong and that I had to have been infected too) I lost 40 lbs due to severe depression, my husband would not talk about any of it and was also in such denial/shock  and now 1 year later, things in my life are better than they have ever been. The only thing that is really bothersome is I dont know of ANY support groups or people living with or has someone in their life with HIV. I live in Massachusettes and I just have not been able to find the resources to connect with others. We live in a very small town right outside of a major city and have yet to tell anyone due to being very well known...it would be a HUGE deal if the community found out.

I guess I would really like to talk with other people without hiding that one aspect of our lives and not be judged.

Any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

~Thanks

Welcome!
What part of Mass do you live in?

If you are near Boston, there is the Boston Living Center.

Worcester- Aids Project Worcester

Springfield- River Valley Counseling.

Let me know and I will get you all the info I can.  I think I have more informations somewhere for the North and South shore.

Thank you snow Angel.....I live about 10 min from Worcester. I had asked his Infectious Disease Dr. (who was highly recommended by our Dr.) and he was of NO help pointing us in the direction of some support groups.

I will look for the one in worcester online in a bit here.

Thank you

That is where I grew up, depending what direction you are. I was west. Honestly, I have lived in Mass pretty much my whole life and have been poz for going on 15 years and there is not much for support groups.  When I first found out, I went to one in Framingham at the Red Cross.
Your best bet will be Aids Project Worcester.
Depending on your ID doc, the nurses might have more information than the doctor.
Good Luck!

Hi! I am new here too. I just wanted to say that your life is not over. I am the positive one in a relationship of 10 years... he's still not positive.  :) Your life is not over, in fact, you can have a full life together and do many things. We travel a lot (before the economy got bad) we do a lot of things.
Eventually, HIV will be a burden, but so are a lot of things in life, like diabetes and other diseases. You just make adjustments.... But life is good. I am going back to school to get my phd, an older woman with HIV!!! Life is not over unless you let it be.  :)
It's too bad there are not support groups for you. I have a lot in California, but I don't need them and am too busy with school.

Welcome, havetohave and trunatrs.  Havetohave, actually this is the positive women's forum, but we have two mom's of positive children here, so I see no reason why you can't join us when you want to.

Trunatrs, that's great news about getting your PhD.  Have you already started?

Thank you all for the responses and allowing me to post.

Snow Angel.....I have also grown up in Mass my entire life, I'am also very familiar with Framingham, but looks like Worcester is probably more ideal.

Really strange that with all these big Hospitals and around here.....I thought I would have many more resources :(

Trunatrs, thanks for the encouragment with a negative partner of 10yrs...I know life is not over....As "odd" as it sounds....things have never been better.....I find that I totally appreciate everyday more than ever.....We have 8 children ( no thats not a typo) and just so thankful for all the everyday little things. Life is Good....its all of what you make of it :)
