Title: somehow can't shake concern off...
Post by: Mike10038 on September 07, 2006, 02:10:01 pm
I'm sure many would probably find the following situation a repetitive one or one that has already been answered.  Unfortunately, my worries and what I am going through physically is not allowing me the patience to read through all of the information previously posted.  Therefore, I apologize in advance for this action and that of the manner I write about my situation.

A month ago, I was at a strip club celebrating my birthday and while a lap dance was being provided, without any thought I engaged in fondling the stripper’s clitoris with two of my fingers.  She came on my fingers, and while she was standing up she deep kissed me.  I immediately went to the bathroom and washed my hands, left and went home.

I didn’t think much of this until certain things started to physically occur with my wife and I.  My wife and I use condoms, but since that evening I’ve only kissed her once and might have playfully bit her lip (unsure if I made her bleed).  Nevertheless, she developed a mild discomfort at the base of her neck (which went away after two days), sore throat 9also that went away after three days) and then some sniffles with some coughing that has yet to subside.  That’s all I needed to start me worrying.  I then developed muscle aches around my shoulders, close to my biceps, on/off hives and stuffy nose.  Now this all maybe coincidence due to the changing weather here in New York, but then I read an article that HIV can be transmitted via saliva and that is when all hell broke loose.

I have tested myself 30 days after this incident using the Home Access test and the results were negative.  Thinking back, I don’t recall having any sores in my mouth nor did I have any cuts on my fingers (that I could physically see), however I am very, very concern and worried that not only I may have contracted the virus and more importantly passed it now on to my wife.

I am terrified and scared of this situation, please, please help.

P.S.- We have both lost 9 to 10 pounds since all this has been occuring, but it could also have been our change in diet (cutting all carbs).  man I'm trying to keep a hold on things!

Thanks guys,

I did read everyones comments and took the time out to read what was written under 'Lessons'.  I read about how HIV is found in saliva, tears and urine..but in low concentration.  But more importantly how it can be transmitted through broken skin, sore or cut.  Wow, the only thing I could have had on my fingers perhaps was a splinter from some landscaping work done a week prior to my situation.  I would have thought the skin around the splinter would have closed up by then.  I've recently notice several bumps appearing on my fore arms again.  I'm going to try hard to remain calm and if they are srtill there tomorrow, I'll see the Doctor.  So far he laughed at the situation and expected something worst.  He asked whether I had a rash, fever in and above 104 degrees and swollen glands.  I didn't believe I did and asked him to check the area where my glands were.  He checked my neck, underarms and shoulder areas.  He has told me everything is o.k., the blood works are fine and that he'll like to see me again in 6 months.

If it's not HIV, what can it be?

Mike,

Your risk of contracting anything from this encounter is zip-zero-zilch. This is proven by your negative result on your 30 day test. I don't even think further testing is required or was necessary in the first place.

This is a complete NO RISK situation.
No test was nor is required.  HIV is NOT transmitted in this way.  To clear something else up:  saliva is not infectious, actually the opposite it actually inhibits HIV.  The internet is a huge source of mis-information if you look just anywhere.

Please educate yourself by clicking on the welcome thread, and the LESSONS (upper left corner).  That way you don't need patience to search around.

J (lvcurious),

It's nice that you want to help, but you should leave the giving of advice to those of us who know what we're doing. Stick to your own thread doll.

Mike,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Mike, you didn't put yourself at risk of hiv infection at the strip club, no matter what sort of spin you want to put on it. Whatever is going on with you has NOTHING to do with hiv. That's all we can tell you. We cannot diagnose you. If you continue having problems, go back to your doctor.

There's nothing more we can do for you here.
