Hi again and a Big Thank You
« on: September 07, 2007, 09:39:17 am »
What can I say?  I logged on this morning feeling low having not slept well and found wonderful replies to my first post from some wonderful women.  Of course I cried!  However, now I feel a sense of empowerment (can't say how long it will last but it is good just now!) and if I have stolen some of your strength ladies I will try and give it back some day when you need it!

Briefly, I will let you know a little about myself.  I have posted a new topic mainly because I am not sure how to reply (via thread?) to each of you so the whole of my life is now a new learning curve in everything!  I am 51 years old (used to feel about 20 years younger now feel 20 years older!) and from a small rural village in NE Scotland but have now lived in Texas for a year.  We moved here thro my husband's work and hence I feel very alone with the news he gave me and you ladies were the first I could offload onto, not having any close friends here.  What makes things especially bad is we were holding onto our home in Scotland but my husband felt we would be better off selling as we were to be here till we retire.  He had his suspicions about his status when he persuaded me to sell but didn't share hence I now have no home near my family and makes it so difficult to even consider moving back.  Maybe I am meant to stay here then and work it out with him.

Did not realise just how far across the world all you ladies were and hearing from you all was fantastic.  I used to live in Holland many, many years ago and absolutely loved it and the people.  NZ I would love to go to (my sister is going this year - lucky soul!) as I had a penfriend there for many years.  Thank you to all the Scottish ladies replying - made me feel at home (I could just hear your accents as I read the words!) and for those of you who have not been to Scotland but love it - how wise you are!  It is a fantastic country with fantastic people (but then again so are many other places and people!) and I hope for those of you who would like to travel will make it one day.

Thank you again and I will keep reading the Forums for inspiration.  Thank you for my warm welcome.

LG: To be clear in case I confused you, I'm of Scottish blood, but sadly, not birth. When you want to add to a thread, simply go to very bottom of the last post and you'll see the buttons to use. Glad you're here and holy cow you're in the US!!! Yeah for our team. However, sorry to hear about the lack of homeland domicile which limits your choices. EM

Update from Lostgirl.
Your positive vibes and words worked wonders this morning.  After feeling so sorry for myself, I pulled my socks up (actually I'm not wearing any - just flips flops, but you know what I mean!) and forced myself to phone a couple of (female) infectious disease specialists and eventually (I didn't give up!) spoke to this fantastic nurse who wouldn't give me the chance to hang up before I gave my name and phone number, gave me some advice which I put into action and am now awaiting an appointment for more blood work etc. It was great to actually talk to somebody who could take charge (just for the moment!) and get me moving!  Hurrah for me!  (I'm making the most of this positive moment - life is too much of a roller coaster to take it for granted!).  One downside in concentrating on me is that I feel a bit more removed from my hubby but I'll work on that.  I know there are rocky times ahead, but hopefully some good ones as well.  I have already found the best ones and that is everybody on this forum.  Thank you and my best wishes to you all.

Hi lost

Sounds to me that you are not so "Lost' anymore... ;)

Instead of starting a new thread everytime you have something to say just click on reply at the top of your thread, it will bring up a box for you to write in and then press "Post" that way you can keep your original thread going and we don't lose sight of you and what is going on, but I'm sure you will find your way around soon enough.

I was pleased to hear you are feeling a lot better today it takes time but you will get there, trust me I was feeling a little lost myself until I found this site, I have been here 4 years now, made so many friends and have never looked back.

Hope your days keep getting better ad better.

Hugs

Hi Lost, I too am 51 in fact will be turning 52 in less than 2 months. I have been poz for 20 yrs.this coming Nov. It was very hard in the begining because i had 3 boys to raise on my own. But i did it, i think having a positive attitude about life and everything got me thru so many tough times. I did not go on meds till March of 97 after landing in the hospital. Spent 1 week in and then 3 days later had to go in to have my right lung reinflatted. Not fun. Since then i have been pretty lucky with meds and getting sick. I am from the U.S. but i know how it is to feel so alone. I found this site about 2 yrs. ago. I have never had the pleasure to meet anyone from here but have talked on the phone to some and keep in contact by email with others. This is agreat place, I don't post a lot but i do sign in and read alot. It really helps just knowing that there are others in this world going thru the same things i am going thru, I am not alone any more and neiter are you. Welcome to the forums. Hope to talk and to get to know you.
