Just curious to know how long a regimen of drugs last?

As with most things in life, there are no guarantees.
However, current evidence would suggest that provided viral load remains undetectable (ie,<50) and adherence is maintained, a well chosen combo will continue to work for a long time, possibly indefinitely.

I know that when you are first diagnosed, there are  lots of worries to deal with, both about the right now and the future. I think you can expect that as and when you do decide to start treatment, whether that is soon or several years down the line, the meds will work - and keep working, as long as you take them on time and as prescribed.

It takes a while, but you do get to a point where it all becomes smaller, less intrusive, both  in the headspace and day to day business of life.

I asked the ID team at the hospital where I get treated, and they said they have patients who have been on the same regimen for 10 years or more. Some people only change because something better comes along, or sometimes they do develop drug resistance. They say that it is on the rare side that someone who adheres to treatment guidelines developes drug resistance. They say they have encountered superinfection though which does complicate things.
