I'm not a very good artist but how about Paul Revere riding buck naked into Boston and shouting "THE AMG '09 CROWD IS COMING, THE AMG '09 CROWD IS COMING!!!"

Or we could have Paul Revere sitting buck-naked at the Cheers bar?

We all know his name, right?

In the middle of yet another sleepless night, I came up with this concept for a T-shirt design.  I'm no artist, but have an older brother who is a very talented artist.  I'll get this concept to him and see what he comes up with.  Hopefully I can describe it adequately.

Imagine "historic" Boston: port city, cobble stone streets, tall oil-burning lamps, brick double-story houses that line up wall to wall down the street.  The house numbers along 1 side will be numbered for previous AMGs: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008.  The ship in the harbor, which will be noticable but not prominant, will bear the name AMGFlagship (since AMG is truly the first and only of its kind).  There will be a clocktower displaying the time of 8:09, which in military time (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong) is 20:09, or 2009, the year of the Boston AMG.  The entire design will be done in very artistic shades of blacks and grays except for the red ribbons tied around the oil lamps lining the streets which will be lit.

I'm working on some other subtle symbols that could be worked in without mucking it up, but there's the gist of the design.  Let me know what you think.  I'm hoping to have a rendition before Thanksgiving.

Mum - Your idea sounds fantastic!  Keep in mind when putting the design together to use no more than 3 colors.  No fading as this will constitute multiple colors to the printer.  This will keep the cost down. The printer charges an $18 per color set-up fee.

Aw, thanks!  I'll be sure to let Joey know about the shading.  The picture in my mind looks somewhat like a black / gray Kincaid painting.  I've emailed the idea to him and he's working on some initial sketches for me.  This is his busy time of year for him (he designs and builds the current #1 haunted house in the country - all 45,000sqft) but he promised he'd work on it and thinks he could definately have a final draft done by Thanksgiving.

Dear Mum...That is a lovely, well thought out concept in which you seem to have captured the essence of Boston!!!

Now just throw in a naked Paul Revere coming out of the Cheers bar and we are good to go  ;)

The folks at Nightsweats and T-Cells had a booth at the HRSA conference and I got to talk to some of the guys a bit.  They remembered the AMG, and the guy said he wears the Montreal shirt all the time, which was cool.  They told me that you guys didn't get a T-shirt this year.  Too bad because Creighton's design was awesome.  I will try and toss one into the bidding this year.  I like the idea of staying with the original format, designing it around the location.

We did have a t-shirt this year.  Unfortunately, NS dropped the ball this year and didn't print.  When I called to enquire where the shirts were they advised they would have to rush print and ship overnight, costing over $60 in shipping fees.  That wasn't a cost I was prepared to absorb or pass on to the group so I went with a local printer.  He was also adamant about letting me know they do our shirts without a profit and were basically doing us a favor.

O.K. everyone:   ;D

As Dennis mentioned in his opening post:

Quote
Every year we come together to create a symbol of unity in the form of a t-shirt.

It's that time again.

Get out those pencils, crayons, and other paraphernalia.  It's time for you to go to work.

Dennis would like to have the final decision regarding next year's t-shirt design concluded by the end of the year.  He wants to use the logo as a theme builder for AMG 09--Boston.

In the next week or so, we'll ask you to begin submitting copies of your ideas.  Watch this thread for when and how.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

There's no such thing as a bad idea.  This is a chance for anyone and everyone to put something forward.  Whether your artistic and design skills are high, low, or somewhere in between, please consider participating.

The more the better.

The other thing to keep in mind as Dennis mentioned in his OP:

Design Guidelines
Vector format is preferred.  However, all formats are eligible to be submitted (paintings, graphics, etc.).  Please limit your designs to 3 - 4 colors.  There should be no fading or bleeding of colors.

So, KCMetro, Mum,  Basquo, Cindy, Ric, SnowAngel, and everyone/anyone else, put on those thinking caps and be ready to put something forward in the next few weeks.

Title: YOU COULD WIN 250 BAZILLION DOLLARS!
Post by: RAB on October 12, 2008, 05:41:15 pm
Yes, it's true!

Honest to god.   ::)

That's the prize for submitting the winning design for the AMG--09 Boston t-shirt. As with any contest certain terms and restrictions will apply*.

Start working on your ideas, don't worry about some of the technical stuff (the t-shirt company can probably reconfigure the idea to a workable format), we just want to have as many members as possible be part of this.

The time for submitting will soon be announced.

And don't forget, this may be the only chance you have in your life to win 250 Bazillion dollars.*

RAB   ;D

(Who would never exaggerate the size of anything!  EVER!)

* Ain't a snowballs chance in hell you'll actually get a dime if your design is chosen, but you will receive the praise and appreciation of your fellow forums members.  In other words the prize amount is a complete and total lie!

winnie...

 You're a natural.

I've got an idea but don't know what to do with it.

"BAnned in Boston" is a common phrase and refers to the  purnitical beginnings of Boston.  The City has historically had the power to ban works featuring 'objectionable' content.

But the phrase has come to be associted with something lurid, sexy, and naughty and is taken as a badge of courage, so to speak, if you're "Banned in Boston."

I guess maybe it's a stretch, but any ideas of corporating the phrase 'Banned in Boston?'

Hello Everyone:   ;D

Just to let everyone know, the plan at this point is to continue to encourage submissions through the month of November.

Once everyone has taken advantage of their opportunity, then we'll proceed with a final selection process (most likely during the first 2 weeks of December).  That process will be forums vote to decide upon the final design.

I know a couple of members have said they will not be able to submit something till later in the month, so hopefully this will accommodate those needs.

So come on all you closeted designers!  There isn't a better opportunity then this for members to express their creative talent.

Hello Everyone:   ;D

I love every idea submitted so far, I can't imagine how we are going to make a choice.

But being the nag I am, I just want to remind everyone else that only 19 days remain for you to submit your design idea.

We're trying to have all the potential designs available for member's consideration by November 30.

Then we will vote the first two weeks of December.

So come on you divas of design, you mavens of mischief, you closeted cranks!   ;)

There isn't such a thing as a bad idea, the more ideas the better I say.

Let us see what you think would make a great t-shirt!
