my new numbers-guidance sought
« on: September 12, 2006, 04:25:08 am »
Hi All,

I had done my cd4 test and my new nos are 720 and percentage is 20. The cd8 is 1839 and cd3 is 2639.In feb 2006, My last cd4 no was 725 and cd8 was 2092 and cd3 2892.
Iam on combivir and effervenz for last one year and 2 months. I want to know why my cd4 has not gone up either in terms of absolute nos or percentage, the same is case with cd8 which is also stagnant.Further what is cd3 nos and what bearing it has on immune system particularly in relation to hiv.
What should i do to increase my cd4 nos as Iam little worried because of its no increase.I habe been doing breathing exercises, eating a lot of vitamins inclyding selenium, prebiotic and antaoxid along with a lot of Indian herbal like neem, basil , ashwagandha  and lemon drinks. kindly guide me.

Hari

Personally, I don't know much in the way of the CD8 or CD3, but your CD4 at 720 and 20% is something many of us would love to have.  You are in what they consider a "normal" range, and nothing to worry about.  The 'numbers' will go up and down all the time, and as my doctor once told me, "they are JUST numbers".

Dang... my cd4 is 409... my husband's was under 15.

Enjoy life, my friend.  Keep doing the healthy things you are doing.

Since your CD4 count is well within normal range (500-1,500) you are unlikely to see much improvement in the short term, if at all.

The CD3 count represents the total number of T-type lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, and includes CD4 & CD8 cells.
