Why I am feeling soo Good?
« on: March 05, 2008, 11:02:19 pm »
dear all,

after approx. having the virus for ten years, being diagnosed 'positive' for 2 years and taking meds since 3 month (cd4 165/vl 152.000), i am feeling absurdly great...

april '06, there were only 'some' small pimples on my leg, approx. 7, which made me aware and as i am a person who is looking for his appearance (who isn't anyway.. ;) ) this was the only thing which let me go to the doc and having done a complete check. hmm...  - positive.

but all the time, i had not one OI or other sickness, i am eating well, being able to purchase fresh, healthy and inexpensive food, i am gaining weight, i am takeing my meds (Stocrin, Viread, Lamivir) twice a day without having any side effects, there are no other aches around, i can make my share of sport, my scratches or cuts i get once in a while are healing fast, i am living in a country where the meds are cheap,
and also to mention...the sexlife with my 'negative' wife is fantastic.

i have to say, most of the time i don't even think about my condition and life just goes on. besides taking the tabs twice a day, which isn't a real reminder for me as i am used to take supplement since a long long time, i don't have to cut back my lifestyle in any way. ok, the party & alcohol thing slowed down a lot, but i think that is due age  ::)  ...and it wasn't too excessive anyway.

and with the outlook to the near future, with meds even less toxifying for the body, i can good imagine to reach a ripe old age. and who wants to be 87, sitting in a wheelchair, mumbling around and in the need to get fed, anyway.

but sometimes, when i read the topics here in this forum i am wondering what makes me, even with a low cd4, feel so good and other people having the worst of OIs and/or side effects. i know, every body acts differently...

anyway, maybe just only a small reminder for myself how good life is...and all my prayers out to the ones who are not so fortune and have to fight against all the obstacles this disease can bring.

Hey Rolf,

I know how you feel. Sometimes I wonder how I have managed to make it through all these years without suffering as so many others have done.

I guess it is simple luck.

I hope your good luck continues for many years to come. Thanks for sharing some good news with us. There are times we all need it.

HUGS,

Mark

Rolf, that's encouraging.  My own numbers were a little worse than yours, and I feel fortunate to have avoided any problems so far.  After two weeks on meds I feel better and am hopeful of continuing that.

We are benefiting from the experience of those who came before us.  The drugs are better understand and the combinations more tolerable.  IT's a natural progression of things but we always have to remember those who were the leading edge of treatment and are dealing with the consequences of learning.  Of  course, others may not be having a good experience with the current meds.

After I started meds, I got a sudden rush of energy which is mainly from the meds doing the battle with the virus instead of my tired body.  I have been on them now for 15 months without any serious side effects.  I hope it continues.

Hey Rolf,

Thats great your doing well- it gives me hope as a newbie that this is a good time to have HIV (if there is ever a good time) because of all the fantastic Meds available and new treatments around the corner.

Bud- Great to hear you got your energy back so soon after starting meds, i can barely get out of bed these days! I hope that changes whenever its time to start HAART :)
