Anyone take HIV med made by Cipla?
« on: September 11, 2010, 01:29:14 am »
Was wondering if anyone here takes HIV meds made by a company in India called Cipla?

I'm currently researching Cipla meds .....i take Combivir and Viramune brand now ...but Cipla makes Duovir and Nevimune as their generic equivalent and I can get the generics for around 289 bucks a month online compared to 1200 for the brand here in the US.

Just wondering for future reference if ever pushed out of ADAP

Greg, there are a few forum members who buy from Cipla. Just use the site's search engine and search for Cipla. You'll find several threads.

Cipla is a reputable company and they are the world's largest manufacturer of HIV meds. I would have no problem with taking drugs made by Cipla.

As Joey mentions, he takes them. And as Ann mentions, if you do a search on here you'll find others who do as well. I think the people on here who have taken Cipla HIV meds are mainly taking Viraday (generic Atripla).

I hope they start making generic Isentress soon so that I can have a back up plan in case I run into insurance issues.

I think the tricky thing with ordering meds online would be to make sure you order refills with enough time so that you don't ever run out. It's good to have a supply of extra meds so there aren't any close calls.

It does come up although they are not calling it Viraday so maybe it's manufactured by someone else other than Cipla which would be questionable. If I were buying it I'd make sure to ask them if it's made by Cipla.

They are calling it generic Atripla and listing it by name of the separate components:

Efavirenz/Emtricitabine/Tenofovir

I am living in Thailand and I have taken several drugs made my Cipla, prescribed by my doctors. They are a large and reputable company. The Thai government did some studies which measured the potency of some drugs versus their brand name equivalents and found them safe, reliable and efficacious.
