Title: How Much Info Part 2--We are on TMZ.com
Post by: tednlou2 on May 24, 2010, 01:52:15 am
I'm posting this in a different thread to make sure people see this.  It was brought to my attention that google has a lot of info on tednlou2.  Well, I posted a thread several months ago about this.  I used the same tednlou2 that I use for other stuff.  Okay, no big deal cause I've never used my last name.  However, there is a profile with just about all other identifying info.  Still, I can live with that.

The BIG thing is that my thread about Larry B is now on tmz.com and people are talking about on their forum section with many of your comments as well.  So, I guess sharing too much could cause issues.  I'm so glad I haven't used my last name in anything.

http://www.tmz.com/2010/02/10/dr-sandeep-kapoor-anna-nicole-smith-drugs-howard-k-stern-tmz-live2/48/

There is also something on google that my virus protection gives a ? mark to.  I'm not sure what it is as I'm hesitant to click on it, but it lists my screenname, hellraiser, ravhn, and others.

MODIFIED:  I removed Larry's last name in an attempt to keep this from being googled.  It may not work, but thought my using his last name I would probably see this thread used.

hilarious, though I'm confused why post #720 has a link to another web forum (the Anna Nicole Smith Forum no less!) where someone has done a copypasta of your medical history.  They think you got AIDS from Larry.

I especially like the way the poster breaks down my story---saying I still carry a torch for Larry.  Really?  He/she also describes things I said incorrectly.  I would have never thought posting that would end up on tmz.com.  I guess I was too naive that things shared between us would stay here.  I feel a little violated that my story shared with you guys was taken.  But we live in 2010 and the information age and I need to grow up I guess about how things work.

MODIFIED:

I just got that link to pull up on my computer that Miss P mentioned.  They have taken my medical signature line and posted it with comments.  That is really whacked.  They think I got AIDS from Larry or vise/versa.  I have never said that.  If fact, I never actually said I had sex with Larry.  I said they wanted me to have a 3-some.  Now, this will probably end up on there.

If it makes you feel better I just found a picture of you floating around, Ted... :)  You really shouldn't use pictures that are 7 years old on manhunt.

Pretty sure AIDSmeds has legal grounds to request no reposting of information contained here.  So once one of the higher ups on this site sees this they may be able to do something about this.

Are you serious?  Not that cock pic?  I didn't even use tednlou for that.  That is the one site I got a little more creative instead of being lazy.  Is it cause manhunt asks for your email address?  I didn't think that info was ever shared.  Okay, I'm getting off the grid..lol.

That actually rises a very interesting side topic.. the copyright of contents generated by members on these forums. I assume that it'd covered by the user agreement. The "terms of use" of this forums cover information "made available to the User through the Service and the content of the Service", so the key is still to figure out whether whatever you wrote here would be covered by "the content of the Service". The publisher of POZ Strong & Smart also puts a copyright notice in all pages here (the (C) notice), so in a sense it would seem the company has the right to claim copyright ownership over all contents here.

But the bottomline is I think everything here is searchable and therefore "searched" by Google and any numbers of cache services. All contents here can be viewed without having the need for registration. And with considerable amount of traffics it'd also mean that any popular (and non-related) keywords like celebrity names that appear here will come up rather high on Google search, especially if someone is trying to fish around for specific relate-able topics like HIV or AIDS.

So yeah, it's a bit naive to think that the things you have written here would just stay here.. and it's a bit unfair to assume that it was done by one of "us".

I would have never thought posting that would end up on tmz.com.  I guess I was too naive that things shared between us would stay here.

Well, it seems I'm talking too much.  Maybe I need to hush up.  I found this on google.  It gives stats of who is posting the most and I'm Number 1 for the week.  Is this part of AM or some other website that tracks stuff like this?

Exactly.. now that TMZ has appeared as well it would also mean that any compulsive Google users (and there are many) would have a better chance of finding POZ.com and this thread even if they are not aware and have no interest on any HIV topics.

I should have been more clear.  I know it wasn't anyone here.  I know now that by posting something about someone with a recognized name caused this.  I didn't realize there was so much interest in Larry and people googling him.  I feel bad that by posting that I've brought attention to this site and its members.  The tmz forums also added some of the AM members comments to my thread.  It was one thing to post my story about Larry, but they shouldn't have added any of the forums comments by you guys.

I do feel a little stupid.  This comes as I asked how much info to share with members.  As Leatherman said, he brought this to my attention.  In the story about Larry, I didn't use my name.  However, I gave enough identifying info in my thread that someone who did enough detective work could find out.  I left that station several years ago now for another station.  The tabloid I mentioned obviously had called someone at the station or a friend of ours who told them my name.  So, my full name is already known by at least one outlet.

As long as it doesn't cause any issues for you guys, I'm not too worried about it.  Hey, I'm getting talked about...didn't someone say that in one of those forums.  I would have used my full name if I was seeking attention.  I'm still laughing at them saying I was crying when he left for Anna.  I was never that close to Larry.

Presumably the contents of your thread have been "scraped" by an automated process and posted to TMZ.

There is a copyright issue - S+S could assert it's rights as the content of the forums belongs to them not the poster as I understand it.

You posted about this in a public forum so you really should not be surprised that this has happened.

I don't know what's going on here, but I didn't see any cock pics for Tednlou2, at Manhunt or elsewhere.   :(

Interestingly though, a Google image search of his name showed three pages of nothing but AM forum avatars and icons.  Even more interestingly, my new avatar was first.

This is why I use a different screen name for each site or type of site I use.  Also people should be aware that there is a lot of tracking done via email address, online and off.  Use different addresses for different purposes, and don't give them to just anyone.  Hide them when you can.

Actually there are so many ways to track down the real identity of a member in any open forums like this one if one is not being careful (well unless one is already very open and has no concern of piracy). It's not just about how much personal information and details one would like to "share" here, sometimes it can be as simply as linking a youtube video that one has put in his/her personal playlist that is open to the public (provided if one has also put other personal information on one's youtube account), attaching photos from any number of online photo sharing websites from one's personal account, etc.

There's always a risk for being an active participant in any open forums but it can be minimize to an ignorable level ..

Someone who I had not seen in 10 years called me at work last week. He had Googled my name and found out where I work, my HIV status, my lipoatrophy woes, that my mom had died of cancer... all kinds of details about my life. I do worry about the financial implications of identity theft but otherwise I've accepted that anything I post online has left my control, including my comments on these forums.

just googled myself, just to see.  I am not as active as I used to be in any of the boards or web sites.  Ann warned me a few years ago, to be careful what I post.  Since then, I try not to post anything that can be misconstrued, of course that happens anyways with certain sites.  The best thing you can do is try your best to protect your privacy.  In the digital age, that is really hard.  Dude sorry to hear about TMZ getting your story and running with it, just shows that there is no real safe place.  Good luck..  D

Me too.  I know this site is searchable so I keep my private details to a minimum.  Nobody knows I'm really a 4' tall Ecuadorian in a furry suit.  And luckily my name is so common that one would be lucky to find me on Google anyways.

At just about any given time there are 70 or more anonymous guests  reading these forums. Who really knows, who these people are, and what info they are trying to collect.

Ray :o

I told my partner about all this and he said I should have known better.  Then he said, "You're still telling that old story."  When I posted it, I just didn't think about it.  If Mr. LB is being googled so much, people must be reading everything that comes up, because they found it so quickly after posting, already pulled my medical info, and were discussing it.

As I was searching around, there is a gay gossip guy, PH, who says to most awful things about LB.  He super-imposed semen coming from his mouth.  There were a lot of comments from people here in Lou who were backing up the story.  I also noticed a former news anchor we worked with was using her real name and posting info about LB.  She now works in Minnesota, so I'm going to contact her to see if she wrote that.  I'm kinda surprised she would use her real name talking about stuff like that when she is now the main anchor in Minneapolis.  So, I guess I'm not the only person not thinking about how everything we write is for public consumption.  If she really did write that, I'm sure she didn't think people would trace it back to her.

LOL did you really find it?   I didnt post it under skeebo silly, I'm a lot more smarter, than uhh.. STOOPIDER.lol

I could swear the name was something like, BadBadLeroyBrown or something..  I remember telling them I didnt have condoms, but used one of those small brown paper bags because it felt better.

And that fantasy football profile you found ended in disaster too...  On the website they give you the ability to post articles, basically rubbing a loss in others faces, hence why I asked matty a few weeks ago if he minded if I saved a pic he posted for fantast football.  In this league the guy had the nerve to post a pic of his girl in her bra, so I saved that shit.  I photo shopped the fucker and reposted it.  The next day I tried to log in and was told my account was no longer valid.
